||KYNDALL POV||
Josh pushed open the glass door for me. I wasn't even able to look around before my thoughts were interrupted.
"Joshy!!"
A thin girl, a little bit shorter than me, stood next to a table in a pink bomber jacket. Her hair was buzz cut and teal blue, and she wore thick framed sunglasses on her head. I didn't know what to make of her. She rushed over and wrapped her arms around Josh, who half-heartedly returned the hug.
"Hi," Josh said.
"I got us a booth. Hey Tyler!"
"Hey Ashley." Tyler nodded towards her.
"You must be Kyndall," she walked over and sort of looked me up and down before shaking my hand.
"Yeah, you must be Ashley."
"That's me!" She smiled at everyone as we all sat down. I tried to sit next to Josh, but she beat me. I had never met someone with so much energy in my life.
"I see you got another hair cut," Josh commented.
"Yeah! I see you still like the girls with weird hair," she nodded in my direction, referring to my bright red hair. I couldn't tell if it was a positive comment or not.
I noticed Tyler was avoiding talking to her, diving into the menu and not looking up. He was never like that around people.
"So Tyler! Any new music in the works?" Ashley asked.
"Not lately," Tyler lied.
"My new single is coming along great! I can't wait for everyone to hear it." I could tell she liked to talk herself up. All she did was make the table awkward.
"Are you int music Kyndall?" She asked me.
"Not exceptionally."
"Oh, then you must do acting."
"Nope." Ashley gave me a funny look.
"Then... What do you do?" She asked.
"I'm gonna go to college for journalism in the fall." I shrugged.
"You're not famous?"
"You are?" The entire table felt the shift in the atmosphere. I didn't mean to sound so snappy, she was just so aggravating...
"Honey, I'm Halsey. I've had three songs on the billboard top 200 pop." She sounded so conceited and looked at me like I was stupid.
"Good for you," I sneered. I felt Josh tap my leg with his shoe. He shook his head slightly at me, telling me to stop.
Our food came.
"So are you gonna be an annoying journalist that chases people like us around all day for a story?" Ashley asked. I wanted to deck her right there.
"No. Travel and culture, as well as some photography stuff." I answered her question seriously.
"I didn't know you were into photography," Josh said. I nodded at him and smiled. It seemed to piss Ashely off.
"Don't you know journalism only pays well if you're successful," Ashley retorted.
I laughed. I just at there and laughed in her face. It didn't even make sense, it just pissed her off and that was all that mattered.
She didn't speak to me the rest of the lunch.

"I'm so sorry," Josh said as soon as we got in Tyler's car.
