Twilight gazed at Spike the dragon, who was peacefully lying on his back in bed. He wore his classic, carefree expression on his face.
"I need to take him with me," Twilight thought, "even if I risk him finding out my plan."
"Wake up, Spike," Twilight whispered softly, waving a gem under his nose.
"Rarity?" Spike questioned sleepily.
"Teehee, no," Twilight replied with an eye roll, "I need you to ride to Canterlot with me today."
"Oh, alright!" Spike said, marching towards the library exit.
"You seem enthusiastic," Twilight commented.
"Well, I guess I'm just grateful to be on an adventure with you again," Spike said, his face lighting up.
Twilight felt a twinge of guilt, but fortunately it was quickly replaced by happiness and the feeling of familiarity as Spike sat on her back.
