A/N: Sorry for the wait guys. Hope you enjoy!

Lena sat in the waiting room, Mitch sitting on one side of her and Walt on the other. She stared  at the white wall across from her in a daze. She never heard Mitch arrive, Walt explained to him that Stef was in surgery and that they hadn't heard anything yet. So they were waiting. No one said anything, just listened to the people going about their lives outside the door.

Six hours and thirty-seven minutes had never felt so long to Lena as she stood up and walked over to the large windows that overlooked the outside sitting area six floors below. The tears hadn't stopped since they had begun. Lena had gotten tired of wiping them away, so now they stained her cheeks and the front of her shirt was wet from the teardrops dripping from her chin. She wrapped her arms around herself as she stood there thinking back over the past month of her life.

She never thought that she would have gone through something like this or that she would have fallen in love with someone so quickly. But now that she had done so, it felt like she had always loved Stef. Stef had taken her by surprise, came right in and swept her clean off her feet and now she didn't know what she would if Stef didn't make it. Her heart hurt at the possibility of not being able to see her again. In such a short amount of time Lena's life had changed. Even after all they had been through, Lena could never say that the changes were bad. They were anything but that.

Lena felt a hand on her shoulder and jumped at the unexpected contact before relaxing slightly.

"I'm going to get a cup of coffee from the vending machine down the hall, would you like a cup?" Walt asked her softly.

Lena shook her head as she turned to face him. "No thank you."

"I'll be back in a few minutes. Why don't you try and rest until the doctor comes back." He suggested as he squeezed Lena's shoulder before turning and walking away not really expecting a reply.

Lena just nodded at his retreating back and took her seat beside Mitch.

"She's strong Lena,"  Mitch said as he took one of her hands in his, "she's going to be okay. She's the strongest person I have ever known. I'm sure we will hear something soon."

Lena just nodded her head and leaned further back into the uncomfortable waiting room chair. She sighed and without turning to look at Mitch she started talking, saying more than a few words since they had arrived at the hospital. "I'm sorry, Mitch. She wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for me. All she was trying to help me and now she could die and it will be all my fault."

"Stop right there, Lena. What happened to Stef is not your fault. She was doing her job and she knew what the outcome could be with any case. She knew that long before she ever met you. You are not at fault here, Lena. Stef would do anything for anyone in trouble, that's just the type of person she is. She just happened to fall in love with you along the way."

"I love her too, Mitch. I didn't know it was possible to fall so hard, so fast, I've never felt like this for anyone before, a love so deep that it hurts to breathe at the thought of her not being here anymore." Lena's voice broke as the tears in her throat began to strangle her airway.

Just as Mitch was going to respond to Lena, the door to the waiting room opened and a doctor walked in, removing his scrub cap in the process. Lena's eyes were immediately drawn to his scrub pants where blood was splattered on the bottom of the legs where his scrub gown had not reached.

The doctor noticed and moved quickly toward her and Mitch, "I'm Dr. Sanchez. I performed Agent Foster's surgery. Are you her family?"

Before Lena could respond, Mitch spoke up quickly, "Yes, she's my cousin and this is her life partner, Lena Adams. How is she doing?"
