~ (y/n)'s P.O.V ~

Tommy and I became the chatter of the Glade. Most people were impressed, some were angry, such as Gally who continuously argued that Tommy should get in trouble for breaking our rule of not going into the Maze unless you're a Runner. Gally and his group of Builders had spent the day protesting, so Newt called a meeting with everyone required to attend, except for Jeff to watch Alby.

I sat in my wheelchair to the left of Newt as he explained the situation and goal of this meeting.

"Tommy went into the maze, which is against one of our rules, but he ended up helping save (y/n) and Alby. We would've lost four people tonight if Tommy didn't help. I know many of you are thankful for Tommy's help, but some people got angry because a rule was still broken." Newt gave a pointed look to Gally and his Builders. "For this meeting we are going to discuss the extent of this matter. Each Keeper will give an idea, then after we will have an overall vote."

Gally's idea was to banish him as we banished Ben for breaking a rule. Clint suggested locking Tommy away for a week. Winston suggested making Tommy a Slopper, and the ideas kept going like that until we came to Minho.

"What do you think, Minho?" Newt asked. I stared at Minho, searching his face. Minho stood, looking out at all of the Gladers.

"I know I often boast, or act brave to you guys about the Maze, but after what I watched last night, I can't honestly tell you that I've acted very courageous. Last night, Thomas stayed to make sure Alby stayed hidden while I ran like a coward.  He carried (y/n), and at one point when the Griever tossed her into the air, even when it was plain stupid, he ran to catch her, and he succeeded! Thomas took a risk of hurting himself to save her. He ran and made sure they were safe and he never stopped. Thomas was really brave last night. He helped even if it put him in danger while I hid away and watched. All I thought of was myself, I didn't even help (y/n), and I've known her longer than him." Minho looked down for a moment. "I think we should let him walk away with no charges and recruit him to being a Runner."

Gally stood, immediately yelling. The Builders also yelled out. Other Gladers began shouting out their own opinions.

"Calm down, the whole lot of you!" Newt yelled, staring at the Gladers. Their shouts died down to murmurs. "We still need to make the overall vote." I looked at Tommy and gave him an encouraging smile, hoping that nothing too bad would happen.

Newt wheeled me out of the meeting room and started going towards the Homestead. It was decided that tomorrow at sundown Tommy would go in the Slammer for one night with no food, but also he would be considered for becoming a Runner.

Once we got to our room, Newt helped me out of the chair to lay on the bed, then he climbed in bed with me, holding me close to him. I hummed, cuddling close to his side.

"Are your hands okay?" I whispered, looping his bandaged fingers through mine. Newt nodded, placing his head against mine.

"I really freaked out when those doors closed. I couldn't sleep. Chuck stayed up with me for a bit. He helped collect a bag of Ben's stuff that I brought to our room. It was mainly sketch books and cars." I looked up at Newt, a small smile playing at my lips.

"Thank you." I cupped Newt's face, staring into his eyes as he leaned into my touch.

"Tomorrow, we should go off on our own for a little bit, maybe to that little lake, just sit by the water." I nodded.

"I'd like that." I pulled Newt close to kiss him. Newt tightened his hold on my waist, pulling me closer. All of our fear from before poured into the kiss as we clutched at each other, holding each other close. I pulled away from his lips, kissing at Newt's jaw line.

"I love you." Newt whispered as I pulled away completely. I smiled at him.

"I love you too." Newt kissed me again, this time it was shorter and sweeter.

"I'll get the bag of Ben's stuff." I nodded, swallowing as Newt pulled away from me and getting up. He brought me a small backpack that had been sitting on a table on the other side of our room. I slowly undid the drawstring, then looked inside. There were a few books. I grabbed one, flipping through the pages. There were pictures of the Maze, pressed flowers, some of the Gladers. On the last few pages there were pictures of me, then me and Newt. The final page had a girl. She was smiling, blue eyes flashing off of the page. I covered my mouth, finding a sob lodging itself in my throat

"(y/n)? Are you alright?" It took me a moment, as I stared at the picture of who I could only assume was Lea, but I opened my mouth, whispering.

"Yes."
