Off-Screen Enemy
{Grant x Reader}

"I worked so hard to get to where I am today, and I'm not going to let anyone take that from me." You crossed your arms over your chest defensively, staring at your annoying, self-righteous co-star. He mimicked you, folding his arms, too. You frowned. Why did the attractive ones always have to be so... awful?

"You think that you're the only one who's worked hard," Grant snorted, "Honestly, though, who do you think you are? This is my show, Y/N. Remember?"

"Oh, right, I must've forgotten," you rolled your eyes. "You're not getting my point."

Grant's arms dropped to his side as he leaned back against his trailer. "Y/N, I don't get what your problem is," he shrugged.

"My problem is that you don't give people chances!" You shouted, dropping your arms, too. Your hands balled into fists as you took a step closer to him.

"What are you talking about?" Grant asked.

"I read that stupid interview of yours," You spat, "You know, the one right after I got this role. About how you don't like my acting and that you think The Flash made a mistake in casting me."

"Shut up," Grant groaned, "That's not what I said. I said I don't like how they're screwing up your character on the show. Not that you're screwing it, but the writers are."

You fumed, shaking your head. "So? That doesn't give you the right to be a jerk to me, Grant! What happened to our screen tests? We had great chemistry then." You rolled your eyes again. Grant was beginning to wonder if that was your default setting.

"The screen tests that weren't supposed to happen," Grant shot back, "Remember? You were supposed to be Wally's girlfriend, not Barry's. You weren't even supposed to have such a reoccurring role. I think it's awful how they placed you into this season." The light in his eyes faded with every word of his. You shook your head in disgust. How could he be so rude? How could he treat you awfully just because he didn't like the character you played?

"Just because you don't like my character doesn't mean you need to be a jerk to me," you argued.

"You were the jerk first!" Grant said, throwing his hands up in disbelief.

"What?" You huffed, "No. No. I was an idiot and adored you, actually."

"What?" He asked, his voice getting a bit quieter. He looked at you, surprise written on his face.

"Yeah, yeah. I did. Until you said those awful things that were somehow translated wrong," you sighed, shaking your head. "Whatever, Grant. We may be dating, but that doesn't mean we have to be friends."

"I'll drink to that," he muttered. He turned his back to you, opening up the trailer door and disappearing inside. So much for a talk to figure things out. You turned around to head back to your trailer, to see your friend, Danielle, standing behind you.

"You and Grant seriously can't get along," she observed, tilting her head to the side.

"Uh, no," you answered.

"How did you guys pass the screen test?" Danielle asked, furrowing her eyebrows at you. "They literally said that you guys would be the perfect match. So perfect they scrapped the script of you being with Wally."

"Because we didn't know each other then," you shrugged, "Because Grant didn't say those rude, unnecessary things about me yet."

Danielle laughed loudly, shaking her head. "Grant didn't mind you. He thought you were hot," she explained, "It's the whole changing your character thing that bothered him."
