Chapter Seven

Dem's POV

I layed awake in my bed, my eyes wondering over the blank, dark green walls. The color reminded me so clearly of the woods, which made my mind wonder to my wolf. Maybe he hadn't shown yesterday because, that boy, Justin had been wondering around and he didn't want anyone but me to see him? Last night my wolf clouded my dreams, drowning my mind back into his world. This dream was different then my nightmares, this time my wolf was on my side, and we were being attacked together. It was strange. Sometimes I wonder, what are the messages my mind is trying to give me from these dreams?

Slowly, I got up and stretched out my muscles which wanted nothing more than to sleep again. I dressed in cotton shorts and an oversized yellow sweater. I made my way down the stairs, and was greeted by my mother.

"School today" she reminded.

I wanted nothing more than to just stay home. I hate school. I hate everyone at school.

I sighed, "Can't I be home schooled?" I made my way to the toaster and stuck a piece of bread inside.

"No way."

I rolled my eyes. Thanks for the help, mom. I sighed and grabbed my iPhone off the table and stuck my headphones on. I went to my music and shuffled through to a Nirvana song. I cranked up the sound and waited for my toast. After eating and brushing my teeth, I slipped on my sneakers and slung my bag over my shoulder. I threw my headphones and phone into my bag and made my way out to my car. I wish I didn't have school, I really wish I didn't. I wanna see my wolf. Or that Justin boy. I think what I really want is someone who doesn't know me from school. So I can start fresh with someone, be myself. That would be nice.

I turned on the radio and listened to the song playing, focusing on the words, anything to take my mind off school and the torture I was going to have to go through.

**********

I raced down the hill the second I got out of my car after school. I ran down the hill, weaving through trees, and made my way out into the vast woods. I had my phone in hand, and my headphones rested around my neck. I thought I heard something so I froze and listened hard. I could hear a voice in the distance. A boy voice. I imagined Justin's face in my mind automatically, and quickly brushed it off.

I kept running deeper into the woods, until I saw him. It was Justin again. On his phone like last time. He sounded furious. What was he so mad about? I wondered.

I walked closer, giving him a slight wave, "Hey" I mouthed silently.

"Hey" he mouthed back.

He murmured a couple more things into his phone, then hung up, turning to me. "Hi again" he smiled. I was surprised how fast he went from being angry to smiling at me.

"Yeah, seems like I catch you on your phone everytime" I laughed awkwardly.

"Yeah, sorry 'bout that" he rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.

"Who were you talking to?" I blurted, "I mean- you sounded pretty angry." I shifted my weight from one foot to the next, unsure what to do or say.

"I know, it's just... some family business, nothing that important" he shrugged.

"Oh, ok" I nodded.

"So, how... are you?" he asked conversationally.

"I'm good, how 'bout you?" I really wasn't 'good', I was rather disappointed that, once again, I wouldn't be seeing my wolf.

"I'm great."

I looked up, and when I saw his eyes, I couldn't help but smile wider. They were so beautiful. Swirls of brown, green, gold, maybe even blue. Wide, black pupils. There was something, almost, calming about his eyes. And at the same time, almost eerie the way they looked exactly identical to my wolf's eyes.

"You meeting your friend here again?" he asked, snapping me out of my deep thought.

"Umm, yeah, but I don't think he'll show today" I frowned.

"Why not?" he asked.

I thought hard for a lie, "Uh, well, he had told me he might not be able to because he had detention. He thought he could sneak out, but I doubt it." I mentally slapped myself at how stupid and random my reason was.

"Oh, what'd he have detention for?" he asked curiously arching a brow.

"Talking back to the teacher, nothing big" I nodded my head as if to thank myself for thinking this all up so quickly. I wasn't usually a good liar.

"Nice" he chuckled, "So who's the friend? He goes to your school?"

I buried my hands under my arms, "His name's... uh, Wolfy, it's a, uh, nickname kinda thing. And he doesn't go to my school."

"Wolfy?" he laughed, "Where'd he get the nickname?"

"He loves the woods, he basically lives back here" that wasn't a lie.

"Oh, cool, maybe I'll meet him sometime."

I laughed nervously, "Haha, yeah...."

"So you go to the high school for Brecksville, right?" he wondered, changing the subject.

"Yeah, where do you go to school? I haven't seen you at my school."

"I'm actually moving from my school to your's in a few weeks" he explained, "I'm not moving- like living in a new house- just switching schools."

"Oh, cool..." I couldn't help but frown. Right when I meet a cute, nice guy, he has to move to my school so he can see how low on the chain I really am? Fuck my life. "Why are you switching schools? It's kinda late in the year."

"Family-"

"'Family Business'?" I finished for him, quoting him from earlier.

"Yeah" he chuckled.

I smiled back at him, trying to take a perfect mental image of him. His brown hair that seemed to be tousled perfectly like a model's, and his breath-taking eyes. He was a few inches taller than me, and lean, but muscled well. And he had a great energy. Tattoos covered most of his body and he was wearing skinny jeans that fit him beautifully and a forest green tee that reminded me of the color of my bedroom. He was just about perfect in everyway possible. He's definatly going to be one of the most popular guys, I could tell. Which meant, him being my friend in front of people, was a mager no-no.

I noticed Justin eyeing me also, and spoke up, "Well, I guess I should go, you've probably got stuff to do."

"Oh... yeah, stuff to do" he nodded, seeming disoriented.

"I'll see you later?" I smiled.

"Definatly" he smirked back, shaking my hand.

I blushed, ducking my head slightly to hide my pink cheeks. I gave a quick wave and turned to make my way home.

"Dem, wait!" he called.

I turned around rather quickly, a smile lighting my face. I just loved talking to this boy. "Yes?" I wondered what he wanted to say now.

"Can... Can I maybe... have your number?" he asked, looking down nervously.

My cheeks burned once again, "My number?" I asked, shocked.

"You know, in case I need some help getting to school on the first day or pointers or something..." he mumbled.

"Oh, yeah... of course." Only for school matters, he doesn't like you. I told myself.

He handed over his phone and I entered my number, passing it back to him when I was done.

"Thanks" he smiled. His face was a little pink with nervousness, and it was just about the most adorable thing ever.

"Anytime" I smiled back. Ug, that sounded stupid. I turned, once again, to leave, and make the long walk home without my smile breaking even once. I think I really like this kid.
