더 깊이 더 깊이 상처만 깊어져
deeper, deeper, the wound just gets deeper
되돌릴 수 없는 깨진 유리 조각 같아
like pieces of broken glass that i can't reverse.
더 깊이 매일이 가슴만 아파져
deeper, it's just the heart that hurts every day.
내 죄를 대신 받던
you, who was punished in my stead,
연약하기만 했던 너
you, who was only delicate and fragile.the next month was one of the most serene jungkook had ever experienced in all his existence. they took walks in the mornings on the weekends, drove to school together, sketched each other, tutored each other - there wasn't a time when they weren't together. perhaps they were just trying to tide themselves over until they could have their little forever. if so, jungkook didn't really mind.
his window was rolled down all the way, air wafting through his now silky hair and blowing it around his glowingly pale skin. he looked much better, much healthier, much more alive than he had prior. perhaps it was due to being properly fed, or the pastel sunset filtering through the trees' grandiose silhouettes, the fresh feeling of newly-found liberation, or even the calming scent of tobacco and vanilla. but more than anything, it must've been the blue haired babe sitting in the driver's seat, bobbing her head to a nirvana song.
he couldn't help but stare at her. he never could. her beauty was so radiant even when she was frowning. jungkook wondered why she was always frowning.
mood dampened, he pressed his lips in a thin line before kissing her temple sweetly, directing his gaze towards the road when she turned to his figure as if it'd never happened, the only evidence being the slow entwining of their fingers as they pulled into the driveway.
alice popped the trunk as he stepped out of the vehicle, circling around to open it and grab as many bags as possible to avoid excessive retrieval trips. he grabbed a hefty load in both hands and arms. alice raised her immaculate eyebrows. "can you really carry all of those?" she eyed him with a mixture of admiring surprise and concern.
he smiled, eyebrows crinkling up and exposing his rabbit teeth. "of course i can, babe. you think so little of me."
"no, no, it's not that," alice chuckled. "it's just that-"
"i've gotten stronger over the past few months," he said simply. and it perfectly summed up his physical and mental development since she entered his life. stronger.
but the thing about getting stronger is that oftentimes it hinders you from seeing that that isn't the case for everyone around you.
jungkook ascended the stairs of the old house, feet kicking up leaves as he crossed the patio. entering the house, he strode carelessly into the kitchen to drop off the groceries at the counter. he was just about to go out to get another handful of bags when an eerie feeling permeated the air, though he couldn't place it. the house was always quiet and dimly lit, but it seemed even more so today. he halted in his tracks, feeling wary all of a sudden. it was at that moment that alice bustled through the door, recklessly dropping a bag on accident. cursing under her breath, she picked it back up and made her way over to join him. all the while, though, he'd barely noticed her presence because of what a distraction it was to guess at an unknown aura.
"can you get started on putting the groceries up, kook?" alice asked hurriedly, rushing to put the bags in and around the kitchen. "i'm gonna go wake up nana."
