Chapter 7
Cindy
And you were just his little whore of a child. Somehow that sentence had been stuck with me all night. I hadn't dreamt a good dream this night, I had a nightmare, one where she yelled this over and over again.
All these years, she has not once said a nice thing to me, or done anything remotely close to it. Maybe there really is something wrong with me, why else would I be treated like this? Except for Amber, I had no friends no family and no life. I must be worth nothing. After year of years with it, I've slowly started to believe it, and there was nothing to do about it.
I had nothing else to think about while I was lying on the floor down here. That and the fact that I have slept really uncomfortable on the floor the whole night. Since it was turned into a storage, all the furniture was removed.
At least I think it was morning right now, it was hard to tell without a watch and no windows. My body was aching after sleeping on the floor. I reluctantly sat up when I heard the lock on the door twisting and it was finally opened.
"Get up here" she commanded, and I had no choice but to show my face. I didn't even dare to look at her as I stepped out of the basement.
"I need you to make breakfast. We will have a guest for dinner at 3 am sharp. Everything has to be perfect for it, so you need to go to the store before then." She listed of the first things to do for the day.
I simply nodded and immediately went to the kitchen. I knew the drill, if there was any leftovers for breakfast, that was all I could have. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast yesterday so getting through the first few hours will be exhausting, but what can I do?

I was sitting in the kitchen and scraped the little leftovers onto a clean plate. I only had five minutes to eat anyway until I had to go grocery shopping. But, since I still had a few minutes, I could still call Amber and tell her Jake had her mask.
She answered after three rings; "Hey, what's up?" she asked. It was so good to finally hear a friendly voice again. I wanted to tell her how much worse it had gotten over the past few days, but I just didn't have it in me to blurt out with it now.
"Hey. So yesterday, something really strange happened. I was out grocery shopping yesterday. I had decided to walk there, so on the way back, I bumped into this guy. You'll never guess who it was" I started telling.
"Who was it?" she asked.
"The guy I danced with, you remember, right before I had to rush back home. Anyway, he didn't recognize me I think, but I think he thought I looked familiar, and then he says he's just trying to return a mask someone lost at the dance!" I stressed.
Now we finally knows where it went, but getting it back is going to be difficult.
"Really? Wow, what are the odds? So did you tell him it was you?" she asked.
"No, I couldn't. You know I can't take any risks at all, letting anyone know I was there. I'm so sorry though, I don't how we can get it back now" I sighed, and finished the food in four bites. That's all I got.
"Don't worry about it, it's not the end of the world" She answered. "So do you have any time to hang out today, I'm kind of bored" she asked.
I really wanted to say yes, I have some time, but there is no way I can do that now. If I sneak out, Janine will now I'm gone, and she will literally beat the crap out of me. I just really don't want to spend the night locked in the basement again.
