"I'm afraid I'll have to choose...." I trailed off to suck in a big breath. I wasn't going to make the wrong decision again. "Sorry, Alicia, but I trust James with my life. And I love him."
I heard James's sharp intake of breath and Alicia's face went as red as her hair.
"Baby girl, you're making a huge mistake," her voice was a cold as her sapphire eyes.
"But I'm not."
"Leave," James growled.
I sat up, James helping me a little. Taking a deep breath, I stood. my palm dug into the bark of the tree as i used it to support my weak legs. I kept my face blank, freezing it in a layer of serious ice. I looked straight into her eyes and spoke coldly.
"I choose James. I'm not gonna choose wrong again, now leave you lying seer."
She flinched as I used her title. Then her lips that I was quiet familiar with quirked to the side in a sneer. She stood up straight, coming to about my chin. Before I could register what she was about to do she'd already done it. Alicia stood on her tiptoes, tilted my head down to her and pressed her lips firmly against mine. I gripped her waist but then pushed her away. This wasn't right and it wasn't fair.
I backed up, swiping my hand across my lips/ "That's not fair! You can't do that!"
"Ro--" the growl of my cousin still trapped in his wolf form made her back away.
"Leave me alone," I said my voice choked with invisible tears. "What do you want from me?!"
"I just want you, I just want to save you," she whispered.
Then she started to writhe away like a departing mist. Her red hair twirled around her. Alicia closed her sapphire eyes and took a deep breath. She exhaled and blood red light flashed. I screamed and James immediately pulled me to him, cradling my head against his chest. I held onto him, my legs shaking with fright. The red light dimmed and the forest quieted. I looked up at the forest, scanning the trees for familiar red hair and sapphire eyes.
Well, one thing was certain through all this chaos.
The seer was gone but she's hunting me all the same.
