Reiner mouthed a "sorry" at us as he followed the "short" tempered man up the stairs into the castle.

"Eren," I started with caution, "What did you say to make Captain get so mad like that and what did it have anything to do what was happening?"

"If I say, promise me [y/n] will never know we talked about this. You too Mikasa."

"I promise." Mikasa said in her normal tone.

    "Yeah, same here." I agreed.

"So apparently [y/n] had two older sisters. They were twins. One was a part of the Garrison, while the other was a part of the Corps."

"Yeah I remember. She never went into detail, which I can understand, but we never got the full story." I added.

"Well from what Hanji said, all three of them were really close because they pretty much raised [y/n] since their mother died of some weird illness my father couldn't even figure out, and their father left for a woman in the Interior. The Garrison woman's name was Rita, right Mikasa?" She nodded in response. "And the Corps woman's name was Maya. From what Hanji told me on accident, Rita was brutally killed by a titan the day the Colossal and Armored Titans broke through Wall Maria. And just like me and you, Mikasa, she watched it happen but couldn't do anything."

"Oh God. Why didn't she say anything? We could've helped her so we wouldn't be in this mess right now." I asked starting to feel super bad for her. "If we knew this was going on, we wouldn't have just left her to deal with it."

"I don't know. But on the day we were in Trost, she lost Maya. After I blocked the hole, I heard that she went up to Hanji and asked to see her. When Hanji asked Levi if he knew where she was, he just out and said that she was killed along with everyone in her squad. I guess [y/n] thought it was some sick joke and ran away, but didn't know that she was running towards where some cadets started bringing the dead."

    Eren paused.

"She ran right into what was left of Maya's body and since then she's been blaming herself for both of their deaths."

"But what does that have to do with Levi?" I asked.

"I don't know the details, but I guess Maya and Levi had a thing for each other."

It was silent for a good few minutes or so.

"So, why do you think she blamed herself for their deaths? She couldn't do anything to stop it." I asked breaking the silence. "I doubt she'll tell us why."

"She never seemed bothered by this at all. She never told anyone so she could keep the burden for herself. I feel horrible now." Eren sighed.

"Well, in a way did tell us..." Mikasa trailed off.

"What, and you didn't bother to help her?" Eren asked accusingly. "And what do you mean by "in a way" she told you?"

"She would wake up screaming things like how something is her fault but wouldn't tell us no matter how much we offered to help. We all suspected something was going on but we didn't want to pry on it."

We all stared at [y/n] as Mikasa said this. Mikasa had pulled out the two chairs against the wall and sat down on one, while Eren took the other and sat down on that one. I decided to sit at the foot of the bed as to not disturb [y/n].

I reached up to her sleeve only to reveal her arms wrapped from her hand to almost her elbow. There was what looked like fresh blood stained on them. I slowly took off what I could, being restricted by the chains.

What I saw were bunches of deep cuts. Whenever I asked her why she wore the bandages, she just brushed it off as it being from training or her being clumsy. I'm not a doctor but I could see that wasn't the case. Someone had cut them themselves with something. I flashed back to the first time I met her. I remembered looking at her necklace.

"She used the feathers on her necklace to make these." I said out loud.

"What, no way. [y/n] hates that kind of stuff." Eren said bringing me back to reality.

"Well obviously not." I said kind of harshly.

"Sorry." I sighed noticing my mistake.

"No, no I get it." he paused and smiled. "I would be pretty shocked if my longtime crush did all of this."

    "E-eren, n-no it's not like that!"

Just then the basement door opened, then closed.

"Mmhmm, sure." Eren had to finish.

I just rolled my eyes and looked down at her, pushing the few strands of hair out of her face. The blood was dry now but there was a deep cut on her temple. I lightly brushed my fingers over it, which caused her to almost flinch. I could feel my cheeks starting to warm up.

"Arlert, I suggest you get out of her face before she wakes up and sues you for harassment." Levi had come back with a blanket, med kit, and Hanji.

I nodded as I made my way off of the bed and over to Eren and Mikasa.

"Armin, are you feeling okay?" Hanji asked. "Your face is all red." she put her hand on my forehead. "It's kind of warm too." she smiled knowing exactly why.

Eren was dying at this point and even Mikasa was smiling. They loved seeing me flustered for some reason.

"Guys come on. Now's not the time." I said getting a little whinney.

"Alright party pooper." Hanji said with a small laugh.

She grabbed the med kit Levi had brought, took the chair Eren was using, and got to work.

"So far all I can see is the cut, but let's keep an eye on her because there could be a concussion considering what Jean and Reiner told me about how she fell." Hanji paused for a moment. "Reiner is really sorry for having to do it the way he did you know."

"I know. He shouldn't be the one to feel guilty though. I had told him to do it if I wasn't able to grab her and she was able to get close to your titans." she hummed in response. "But will she be okay?" I asked nervously.

"I'm not sure, but it looks like it. We just need her to wake up to check how she's feeling though."

"I'm going back upstairs to finish the examination papers. Make sure they know how everything is supposed to go and they don't fuck it up, Shitty Glasses." Levi said as his short stature heading back up the stairs.
