It took longer than you hoped, but eventually the doctor watching over you came back. After going over everything from heart rate to blood tests, he was able to say that there were muscle and bone issues. You broke the bone and messed up some tissue. You would be out of training for over a month at least, meaning you wouldn't be able to go on the expedition. A date wasn't set for it yet, but it would be within the next four weeks for sure. It was a little after lunch when you were done being examined.

"So that sums it all up. Any questions?"

"Well I was wondering if I'll be able to use crutches or something to get around."

"I mean, I suppose you caaaan but that's really up to your superior. I know it doesn't really make sense but it's just how it works here."

"So all I have to do is get someone with a higher rank than me to agree to let me leave the infirmary and I'm good?"

"Well yes and no. You'll still be under our watch but you'll be able to walk around base and sleep in your bunk depending on what your superior allows."

"Sounds perfect. Can you ask Squad Leader Hanji to come here?"

"Of course. I'll send someone to get her. In the meantime, are you hungry?"

"I could eat."

"Okay, we'll get you something and see what Squad Leader says."

~smol time skip~

"Well," Hanji fixed her glasses as she read over your medical reports, "I'm not sure."

"Please Hanji! I'm not asking for much!" you gave her some puppy eyes.

"You have to remember what's wrong with your leg and what it's gonna take to heal it."

"I know but still! Being up and active so I don't lose shape is important. If you don't sign off to it, I'll get all lazy and stuff."

"That would be a good point if you used the right terms and knew what you were talking about."

"Hanji, please." you wouldn't let her eyes leave yours. This was a trick you learned when staying at both the Garrison and Corps HQ as a child.

"Alright! Alright! I'll sign off for one day as long as you promise not to do anything stupid to hurt it and you have to sleep in here tonight."

"I promise."

Hanji turned to the doctor. "I'll give her permission for today but make sure that she's in here at cadet's curfew."

"Yes ma'am." the doctor took a few notes before having Hanji sign something, then he left leaving you alone with Hanji.

"Thanks for agreeing to this."

"It's nothing, just don't make me regret it." she placed hand on your head.

"Love ya mama."

"Love ya too Small Bean. Oh, that reminds me." she reached into her uniform breast pocket, "This is from Shorty from whatever you needed yesterday. He asked me to give it to you." she pulled out a note and placed it in your hand. In Levi's neat handwriting it said:

Hey brat, I hope you're feeling better. You looked like shit when we found you and Arlert in the forest. Anyways, you wanted the translation for whatever this is:

I'm not sure how people like you do it. You're so beautiful, but you say otherwise. You're so smart when you say you're dumb. You're so talented with everything you do. It hurts me to see you put yourself down like that.
