Pain
I see it there like scattered rain
A mere ten feet away
I'll trudge around it
Muddied boots are okay
But I can't enter the rain
I can't embrace, despite the pain
No boundaries or barriers block
Just fear that I'll talk
For I see her there
No umbrella in hand
And with but a glance my way
I'd take a stand
Offer my jacket
Carry her away from that place
Use my very arm as an umbrella
Till her clouds fade away
Revealing the light of day
But I can't enter the rain
I can't
I can't
I can't
It's not my place
Even though I could
And can
But for now, I have to remind myself
I can't.
