Ugly Duckling

Crack, crack, crack
The ducks all hatch
But there in their midst
Is one so hideous
All the ducklings laugh in quacks
Even momma duck must turn her back
It's a sight so hard to bare
Like the attacks
As the chicks peck
The attacks
As the ducklings bite
The attacks
As the farmer kicks
At its back
On ugly duckling
Beating ugly duckling till he looks a fright
A terrible sight
He runs away
To a river so great
His place to die
His place of suicide
Till swans so beautiful pass him by
Inviting ugly duckling to play with them for awhile
And there
In the rivers view
He wakes to
His reflection true
Actually a beautiful swan all along

A/N: My take on the classic tale of The Ugly Duckling. The poem mostly stays in line with the original story. I just thought it had a nice message.
