We retrieved Stiles' jeep from the school parking lot and were now driving as fast as possible through the streets of Beacon Hills to Lydia's house. I'd already called and briefed her on what was going on, though I think she already knew pieces of it. She may act like it, but she's not oblivious. I think translating the bestiary was what really made it all click.

"I know this may not be the best time," I started, "but you really were amazing tonight, at the game."

Stiles scoffed and shook his head. "It was nothing,"

"Nothing?" I said. "Stiles, you were a hero,"

I heard him take in a breath. He tightened his grip around the steering wheel. "I'm not a hero,"

It made my heart sink to hear him say that. Just because he doesn't have any supernatural powers doesn't make him any less of a hero. I don't know where I'd be without him. He saved me from myself, bringing back my memories piece by piece. He is a hero, just in his own way.

"That's not true," I said. He shook his head again.

We pulled into Lydia's driveway, the tires screeching to a stop. I hopped out as Lydia hurried out her front door. I helped her into the backseat and before I could even close the door once I was seated, Stiles took back off towards the same building where the rave was. That's where Eric told me they were meeting up with Derek.

To my surprise, Lydia didn't ask many questions. She leaned forward from the back, staring straight ahead. Her eyes were bloodshot, probably from all the crying. I can relate. But, at least my boyfriend isn't going to turn into some monstrous lizard that is going to kill us all.

We neared the building in record speed. I could hear voices coming from behind a boarded wall. The fact that I could hear them made me smile internally. "There! Through that wall!" I told Stiles.

He sucked in a deep breath. "Hold on," he said, shifting gears.

I widened my eyes at him. He wasn't really going to - we weren't slowing down. He really is going to. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for impact. The jeep slammed through the boarded wall and into the abandoned building. Straight ahead stood the kanima. A hard thud against the hood of the jeep told me that we must have hit it.

"Did I get him?" Stiles asked. He was heaving hard breaths and peaked over at me through one open eye.

I let out a small laugh of hysteria. Though, it was soon replaced with a squeal when the kanima jumped onto the hood of the jeep. It let out a hiss and Stiles responded with a very embarrassing scream.

 "Shit," I muttered.

I slid out of the passenger seat, Stiles following out my door. I quickly pulled Lydia out of the back and Stiles and I moved to join Scott, Isaac, and my brother. I noticed Derek on the ground, blood staining his shirt. I didn't feel sorry for him, why should I?

"Jackson?" Lydia stepped in front of the jeep. The kanima stood up, bearing its claws and bringing them back, ready to strike. Lydia was breathing hard, tears streaming down her cheeks. She held up a key, causing the kanima to pause.

I held my breath as I watched what was unfolding in front of me. Stiles' hand found mine, and I could feel my brother step in behind me. The scales of the kanima slowly began to fade away. The tail retracted and Jackson's face became mostly human again. Shades of green and blue still covered some of his skin, but his kanima side was disintegrating.
