ESME'S POV

WEDNESDAY 13th SEPTEMBER 2017

After the school day had finished, I walked out of the classroom and immediately the cold weather hit me. I lived in America but sadly not in sunny Florida or California, I lived in North Dakota where the Winter was cold and wet and the Summer honestly wasn't much better. I hugged my jacket around my body and rushed down the road towards the school, Eve finished school five minutes after I did and so I had to rush to her otherwise she would have to wait alone.

Moms looked at me weird as I rushed into the school playground and looked around, they always thought I was a very young mom and not a sister for some reason. It was always worse when I was late and they were stood in their circles, whispering and laughing.

"Miss Fields?" I turned around and saw the woman from earlier, she was smiling sweetly.

"Oh hiya, you can call me Esme," I kindly shook her hand. "I'm just waiting for Eve."

"No, no. She's sat in my classroom waiting for you, I said I'd come out and keep a lookout for you," she motioned for me to follow her into the school. I pushed my hands into my pockets and nodded, following her closely behind as she went in through one of the smaller entrances.

We walked down the very narrow hallways and my stomach churned from the memories that still dawned on me from this place, I was horrifically bullied in elementary school by Penny and her friends which was still ingrained in my mind. "Did you come to this school when you were little?" She asked me, creating small talk as we walked to where Eve was.

"Yeah," I nodded and looked at each of the doors. "As much as I want to lie and say I loved it, it was probably some of the worst years of my life," I laughed and she giggled with me.

"School is rubbish for kids sometimes. Are you in your senior year of high school?" She asked me and I nodded wordlessly. We finally came to a stop outside of a room and she pushed it open, as soon as Eve saw me she jumped up and ran to give me a hug.

"Hiya sweetie," I knelt down and kissed the top of her head, returning the tight hug. "I missed you Buddy."

"I missed you too Essie!" She grinned childishly.

Eve's teacher watched us with a smile as she sat down behind her desk and waited for us to sit opposite her. I analysed the teacher for a moment, she had long dark hair and dark skin, she was rather tall and slim and wore contemporary but conservative clothing.

"So why did you want to see me?" I asked sweetly.

"Well we have had some issues in the past couple of days that Eve has been back at school," she explained broadly.
