Chapter 2 - Why?

The morning went on as normal as it can get. Although the new students already introduced themselves earlier in front of the school, they had to do it again in front of the class. Everyone had to do it actually since they have to know us as well.

Our class has 12 students in total. Many left from last year due to many reasons, so it is a good thing that 7 transferred this year. So there are Kisses, Heaven, Kristine, Yong, Christian, Marco, and Edward as the new students. The rest of the class has Rita, Fenech, Vivoree, Aizan, and Me. It is a small class so we got to know each other pretty well. By recess, we went to the canteen to get food and started talking more. Edward is currently surrounded by mostly everyone, I cannot blame them. He is indeed good looking and charming. The girls are staring at him and listening to all his stories.

Edward then realizes that I was the only one not near him, so he said "Why so far Maymay? Don't you wanna know about my life?"

To this, Maymay answered with "Two months we spent together Edward, I know you enough." She chuckled after this, and continued "I'm kidding. There is just no space there anymore Edward. It's okay. We will catch up later. I will talk to Rita, Fenech, and Vivoree for now and see how their summer went"

This is what happened during recess. The new girls and boys were all gathered and got to know each other more. While the rest caught up and discussed how their summer went. The bell rang which means that recess is over. On our way back to class, Edward walked beside me.

"Hey Maymay, what do you think of Heaven and Kisses?" he asked

"Hmm, I do not think of anything about them. Just like you Edward, they are new here as well. I did not get a chance to talk to them, not like you. So you should be the one telling me about your insights"

To this, he smiled and said "I think they are pretty"

"I can see that. They are fair skinned, long straight hair, tall.. Hmm, I guess, anyone would say they are pretty"

I looked at him and saw him smiling. I wonder what is running through his mind. Well, I really do not have to wonder, after all, we are best of friends. So to this, I blurted "Edward, do you have a crush on them? I mean.., Heaven and Kisses?"

Edward did not answer the question, instead he asked "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, nothing. I am just wondering" she said as she looked at him and caught him smiling.

They reached class, and the conversation was stopped right away. They continued with the rest of their day and had fun getting to know each other more.

After school, they all decided to walk home together. Divine School being a small one have their students mostly by walking distance. To this, we found out that Kisses live far and requires a service to bring her to and from school. She got in the car as we wave her goodbye. The rest of us are all walking together, forming small groups and are chatting to get to know each other more. One by one, we are dropping each other off until it was only me and Edward left. We live the farthest from the school I guess. To this, Edward started conversing with me.

"So Maymay, small world huh? I really did not think I would see you again. This is like Grease, but friendship version. Wait, no. Bestfriend version" Edward started

"Haha, right. I am really happy to see you again. And now, we are classmates. We will see each other everyday. And this means, you live near also, perfect! Just like summer"

"Right! Maymay, I thought you would be mad at me you know?" Edward said as he looked at her.

"Why would I be mad at you Edward? Is it because, you left without telling me?" I said.

Edward left that summer without telling me. I woke up one morning and went to his place in the afternoon so we could hang out. To my surprise, his grandparents told me that he already left for the summer. They were also surprise that he did not tell me, and all I said was "Thank you" and left. I do not know why I felt so sad then. I mean there is only one week of summer left, and we were bound to go our separate ways anyways. I still could not help it but get sad.

Edward looked at me then, noticing the sadness in my tone and said "Maymay, it was all of a sudden. I had no idea I had to leave. I wanted to say goodbye to you. You became my bestfriend after all, but there was no time."

"Bestfriend? But not worth your goodbye, huh? Why did you bring this up Edward? I was okay all day already. Then, you ask. You ask about that one thing I want to avoid, because if I were being honest with you, the last week of my summer was so sad because of you"I answered honestly.

"Maymay, I am really sorry. I'll tell you all about it when I am ready, okay? I mean what I said, you are my bestfriend. I will make up for all of it, for that last week that I made you sad! Promise!" He said as he put his pinky up in the air, waiting for me to link my pinky to his.

I let out a big sigh, and linked my pinky with his as I say "Okay, I'll hold on to that promise. Hay Edward John, I really missed you"

"I know. You wanna know how? Because I missed you too. That whole two months of summer with you. I forgot everything. It was such a blissful experience. All the laughter and smiles we shared, how I miss Maymay. You made me really happy" He answered

And we reached my house, I invited him to come in so I could introduce him to my family. He stayed since his mom won't be home until 8PM. Maymay introduced him to her family since Edward did not meet them during summer. It was only Maymay who went to her grandparents and spent the summer there.

As they were having their snacks, Maymay then said "So, what do you miss most about summer Edward?"

AN: Here is chapter 2 guys, I do not have a concrete plot for this story yet but I hope it is making sense to everyone so far.
