Chapter 6 - Forgiven

Today is election day and as candidates, we have to be in school early. So many preparations for both parties in the morning, so all the candidates were excused from class. As I got in the meeting room, it was still empty. I decided to just take a seat while waiting for the rest to come. I never consider silence to be my friend because every time it is quiet, my thoughts are always too loud. "Is to forgive to forget? I know in my heart that I have forgiven Edward after his explanation already, but I cannot forget what actually happened. This is normal, right? After all, it just happened yesterday. Ugh, Edward John Barber, my twinnie, for a bestfriend, he really is giving me a lot of headache and heart pain. But I guess all relationships go through ups and downs, a friendship is still a relationship after all." I sighed and noticed Kisses walking in the door.

"Oh Maymay, you are early." she said

"Early? It is already 8AM, and I was told we have to be here early because it is election day." Maymay answered

"I guess you didn't hear the announcement yesterday and we forgot to mention last night, it is actually late start today because it is election day. They wanted to make sure that everyone considers everything before making a decision on who to vote" Kisses explained

"Ahh, well, I woke up and got here early for nothing then. Why are you here so early then Kisses?" I wondered

"Well, uhm, I have plans of having breakfast with a friend but I guess he is late. By the way, sorry for last night. Marco and I just really wanted to make sure you are fine. Edward tagged along because he seemed really sorry. Maymay, he felt so bad after you left yesterday. He asked Marco and I to wait for him so we could all go to your place. I hesitated offcourse because I wasn't sure whether you'd want to see Edward. I tried calling you to tell you but, well, your phone was off" she explained

The memories of last night started flooding my mind when Kisses brought it up.

Last night...

"I came here just to do that" Edward said

I saw Edward walking in my bedroom door, and then I looked at Marco and Kisses. I felt so confused considering how I just woke up from my nap and suddenly seeing my three good friends in my bedroom.

Edward started walking towards me, "Twin, sorry" he muttered

I did not say anything. I just looked down and started twisting my fingers. I do not know why I feel uneasy all of a sudden. Maybe because we have an audience in the room so I looked up at Kisses and she seemed to have gotten the message.

"Marco, let's go home. It is already late. Maymay seems okay and safe anyway." she told Marco and then looked at me, "Maymay, we go ahead already. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

I nodded and said my goodbye to both of them. As soon as they left my room, Edward sat on my bed and said, "Twin? are you mad at me?"

This time, I looked at him. Edward looked so sad, his eyes looked so tired and sad. I started to talk and I wanted to tell him that I was mad at him, but I was not mad so instead I told him what I truly feel. "Edward, I am not mad at you. I feel..hurt by you"

He looked at me, and this time he was fidgeting. He moved closer to me as I wrapped my arms around me as if I wanted protection from what I am feeling at that moment. Even with my bestfriend in my room, I felt alone. He was supposed to be that one friend that will always make me feel like I have someone at all times that I can truly rely on. Not this time though.

He started talking, "I know twin, I am really sorry. When Christian asked me that question, I was caught off guard. Truth is, for the passed days, I became really close to Heaven because of all the planning and I told her about our agreement. She told me that it seemed like a bad idea for her. She also said that though she cannot control who I vote for, I probably should not tell anyone else about that because it may ruin my image. I guess I was just not expecting to actually be questioned, you know?"
