Chapter 10 - Pretend

Tanner and I agreed to a date on Friday. He wouldn't tell me his plans for our date and I didn't push the idea since I am not really interested. I only agreed to him so I can distract myself from the pain I am feeling from Edward. I  know it sounds bad but it is not like I am leading Tanner on, I made it very clear to him that I am not interested in being in a relationship with anybody at the moment. Though I am going out with him on Friday, I told him not to expect anything out of it.

Edward and I barely saw each other. He switched seats with Christian so even in class, we don't really talk. Even though I miss him, I know it is better this way. Every time I glance his way though, I just want to get near him and laugh with him, like we used to.

Today, I can see him talking to Heaven during recess and they are laughing about something. I wanted to join the conversation, so I could laugh with them too but I thought better. They seem to be getting closer as more days pass by. "Hmm, maybe he already told her about her feelings", I thought

Kisses and Marco decided to sit with me during recess and they questioned me about Tanner.

"So May, is it true? Are you really going on a date with Tanner on Friday?"  Marco asked

"Uhm, yeah" I answered

"Wow, so what's the plan? Where is Mr. Senior bringing you?" Kisses asked

"Actually, I have no idea. He said its a surprise. So, I just let him be" I answered

"So what made you say yes to him?" Marco asked

"His persistence, I guess. Also, he isn't that bad, I thought why not give it a chance." I told them.

Heaven and Edward walked passed us and they were laughing so loud. I rolled my eyes at that moment and just to my luck, Kisses and Marco saw what I did. I saw them looking at each other questioningly. I shrugged my shoulders and focused on the sandwich I am eating at the moment. I heard Kisses asked Marco to leave us for now so we can talk.

"Maymay, what's up?" she started

"What do you mean Kisses?" I asked her

"Okay, call me crazy but I am not blind, you know? You and Edward barely say a word to each other throughout the day everyday. Even during recess or student council meeting, you guys do not speak to each other. Maymay, you guys were inseparable!" she told me

"Ah, I don't know. We are just both very busy. And you saw, he seems to be happy with Heaven anyway" I answered her

"Speaking of Heaven, what's up with that? Are they together?" She asked me

"I don't know to be honest, if actions speak louder than words, I would say they may be. Do you see them? They're together everyday." I told her

"Yes, I see them. It was like you and Edward before but you know what difference I notice? When Edward laughs with Heaven, it doesn't sound the same. Or when he cracks a joke, he turns his neck and searches for you, just to see if your laughing at his joke too." she told me

"Kisses, you know I trust you and that I am thankful to have you as my friend, but maybe this way I can move on from Edward too. I know that what I feel for him is something more now. I was in denial for so long and now I am sure of it but I need to move on from him now, you know why? Because he likes Heaven, actually, no he loves Heaven." I told her

"How did you know about this?" she asked

I told her about the conversation that happened between Marco and Edward that afternoon. I told her how Edward admitted that he is sure about his feelings for Heaven and that he loves her.
