Chapter 16 - What Are We?

"What do you mean?" I asked Laura

"Oh Maymay, don't even try to play this game with me. I have eyes, you know? I see how you guys look at each other." she told me.

"And how do we look at each other?" I asked as I lay on her bed.

"With love" she said directly.

"Hmm, maybe because I do love him" I blurted.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH" she yelled, so I got up to cover her mouth.

"Laura, relax. You will wake up Tita Cathy, and Edward...." I didn't finish because the door suddenly opened.

"Guys, you okay? I heard someone screamed" Edward said

"Oh yeah brother, we are okay. I just nearly fell off my bed but luckily, Maymay here caught my arm. She's really good in catching when you're falling, you know?" She said the last part with more emphasis so I nudged her.

"All good twin" I assured him cause Laura might say something more.

"Okay. Goodnight again, sleep soon! Love you guys" Edward said.

"Love you too brother. Maymay?" she said as she looked at me.

"Oh, Lab yu lab yu twin" I said flashing him my biggest smile.

He turned around and close the door behind him.

"I can't believe this. So you love him?" Laura asked as soon as Edward left.

"Of course I do, he is my bestfriend." I told her.

"Ugh Maymay, I didn't mean that way, I mean...more than friends kind of love." she told me.

"To be honest, all I know is with him I feel safe and scared at the same time. I feel safe because I know he would always protect me from everything. But what if it doesn't work out Laura?" I sighed.

"Don't think about the what ifs too much Maymay. Why are you thinking of the negative already? What if you decided to try and it is the best decision you ever make in your life?" she asked me.

"I was thinking about that. Edward has always been there, even when I push him away, he is still there, always. And I know there will be this fear, but he did say that he is willing to wait until I am ready" I told her.

"Wait, so did he admit his feelings for you already?" she asked and I nodded as I smile like a fool.

"I knew it! I asked him before and he said he wasn't sure because off course you are special to him, but I see a different glow in his eyes when he mentions your name. He looks like a love sick fool whenever he talks about you. And OMG, last month, you should've seen him, he was so miserable because apparently, you were avoiding him and you like that Tanner guy" she told me.

"Wow, so even though you and him fight like cats and dogs, he tells you everything huh?" I told her.

"Of course, we love each other." Laura said proudly.

"He said he loves me. He did this long speech before you came earlier and I so badly want to say yes to him, but my past still scares me. People have left and hurt me in the past before." I admitted to her.

"If Edward ever hurts you, which I doubt he will, I swear I will hurt him too" Laura told me and I smiled at her.

"I hope you guys work out May. Since he already admitted his feelings to you, let me tell you this. I know my brother, he means everything he says with all his heart. If he says he loves you, he really does." She told me.

"It won't be long now Laura, I know I will give in too. The heart wants what it wants." I said and smiled at her.

"Okay, I am content now. Let's sleep already" she said as she yawned.
