Mia's POV

"I'm not sure about this dress Lydia,"

Lydia waved me off as she ruffled her shimmering nude mermaid gown. Her hair was pinned to the side in nice wavy curls, "Girl this dress is perfect, I wore it to my granny's funeral." This dress was a low front, slit up the side, and it was open in the back. My hair was in a neat bun, I looked sexy yet classy. Mysterious, even. "You wore this to your grandmother's- Why do I even bother." I mutter as I step away from the full length mirror and watch Lydia close up her clutch and give me a bright smile. "You can do this Mia, we're just gonna enjoy ourselves, no business. We might not even see him," She assures me and leads me out of her bedroom.

I hope your right,

After putting the finishing touches on my face Lydia squeals in excitement, "We about to get all types of drunk-I mean I'm going to get drunk. You are going to win the pants off that billionaire and it's going to be awesome! Let's boogie," She sings taking my hand and leading me down the stairs in a hurried manner. And I couldn't help but laugh at her craziness.

Once we had gotten into her Bentley and started to travel out of Winston Heights to Ford Knox's Boston where Marc Water's lives. I knew Lydia knew everything there was about Marc but I couldn't help but tell her everything from the little flirting to light chatter...it was so nice. She was happy for me but her smile never quiet reached the sun like normal.

"What's wrong Lydia?"

"Oh nothing darling, just so breathless from looking at your sexy ass." She winks at me and I laugh at her forgetting about any concern. "So you think you know him well enough?" I nodded sure, why was I forgetting something. "Why?"

"No reason," Lydia and I parked, got out, and followed the stream of nicely dressed people around us. I suddenly felt this wasn't my crowd at all, they were all so beautiful. Lydia looped her arm with mine and snuggled closer to me. And waved at all onlookers, "What are you doing-"

"Showing you off," She whispers as we enter the massive estate, my eyeballs couldn't keep up. Lydia takes me over to the tables, and sits down. "Okay Mia do you want me to introduce him to you? Do you want to meet him by yourself? Or do you just want to self-medicate with alcohol right now?"

"Ummm..." Her eyes were on fire, and I didn't understand why. She was seriously giving me all of her attention right now and I wasn't sure if I liked it. It was nerve wrecking. "Lydia are you okay? Stop staring at me like that." She rolls her eyes before leaning back, and lets go of my hands. I felt like a little kid with a mother who looked tensed and needed to self medicate herself.

My mouth was open to say something when she perks up, straightens her dress before smiling. "I got my ticket home. Mia here are the keys to my car, if you crash it...well I can get a new one." She mutters the last part as if it doesn't matter that I wreck her car. "Drive safe," She reminds me before taking off towards the loud party music that was clearly set for the younger generation. But did Lydia care? Not really,

Looking around the room I couldn't see Marc anywhere. Probably he was talking to other friends of his, since he was hosting a party about them. Where were we going to have our second interview? Seeing all these elite rich people made me feel small. What am I even doing here? Honestly, I should try and make an honest living. Not try and cheat my way to the top. This is ridiculous, I didn't even think about long term.

By being here tonight I was basically selling my body to this man for money. Sure I need the money, but to give him a child. Not to say this could be my only child, and even though I never gave children a thought when married to Nolan, maybe I would want children-maybe I would want the child I would bear for this Billionaire.

I was served champagne, and drank it down quickly and told the waiter to keep them coming. But I had a plan to pace myself. I wasn't trying to get - as Lydia puts it - messy drunk. I just wanted to feel the nerves slip away,

"Hi," Startled by the voice that clearly ripped me away from my on-coming peace, I look up to see the man of the hour. Billionaire Marc Waters, I nearly spit up the drink I have- I manage to swallow. But as I won that round of awkwardness, I lost the second one. I stand up too fast for my mind to catch up...

Maybe I had too much champagne,

And since moving as fast as a ninja I not only manage to spill and break the glass, but my leg slams into the table causing me to nearly fall over in pain. And here's the freaking icing on the cake, from the broken glass...I stab myself. Pieces of glass end up in my leg, the one that must have a huge bruise forming now.

"Oh my God are you okay?" He asks wrapping his arms around me, setting me back in the chair. I nod too fast again, I was going to be sick. "I-I just-Hi."

He smiles at me, "Hey Mia." He tells me and I shut up, instantly. He observes my injured leg, slowly removes the fabric that was blocking his sight and it looked bad. Blood was just trickling down, and the glass made it look straight out of a horror movie.

"Come with me," He politely demands as I allow him to wrap his arm around my waist and help me towards a hallway. It was dark, but he seemed to know exactly where he was going...

He opens a door to reveal a nice looking bedroom, setting me down I watch him find the first aid kit. Putting on latex gloves, "You aren't allergic are you?" I shake my head quickly and he continues. Holding my leg up by the thigh with one hand, with the other he reaches in the first aid kit and wipes the blood away. Once it stops looking like a horror show, I takes out the bandages and wraps my thigh. He grips my thigh tighter when he lifts higher to wrap it around. "You're golden," He says taking off the gloves before slowly releasing my thigh. I wince at the pain, "Don't move." He tells me as he lightly trails his fingers along my skin from the calf where he places my foot on his knee. At that point he presses both hands on my thigh. "Better?" Yea the pain actually faded a bit.

"Thanks, what did you do?" He shrugs his shoulder rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. I was impressed. "That was amazing, thank you Marc." He waved it off and slowly released my leg again.

Lydia's POV

Dancing like it was nobody's business out of the corner of my hawk like vision, I glance over at Mia's table. I instantly stop grinding on the gentleman when I don't see Mia. In fact, in her place I see Lucy...

A couple passes and like a ghost she's gone...

Blinking several times... Did I actually just see Lucy?
