Chapter 44: Run Away

He looked so mad and disappointed. What did I do? He breathed out harshly then got up from the bed. "You don't f*ckin' know what you did?"

"Baby, can you please enlighten me? Why are you so mad at me?" naguguluhang tanong ko sa kanya.

"Why did you have to humiliate Daphney! You made us look stupid there!"

I scoffed. "So it's all about that Daffy," I muttered sarcastically. "You're mad at me because of her."

He breathed out harshly. "I'm mad at you because you made us look stupid! Why did you have to say those to Daphney? You made it seem like she was flirting with me and that we were having an affair!"

"Because it's true! She was flirting with you!"

"Daphney is a friend, Missy! God!" He shook his head, seeming so disappointed. 

"Nagagalit ka sa akin dahil ipinahiya ko siya?" puno ng hinanakit na sabi ko.

He muttered a curse. "Hindi mo lang siya ipinahiya, Missy. Nag-mukha tayong tanga! Tang*na naman! Wala ka bang tiwala sa akin? Don't you trust me? May anak na tayo. Tingin mo gagawa ako ng kagaguhan na pwedeng sumira sa pamilya natin? Damn it!"

Hindi ako nakaimik. I just cried in silence, filled with so much regret and misery. I couldn't even look at him without feeling so guilty. Walang kibong tumayo siya at lumabas ng kwarto. Napahagulgol na lang ako. Hinintay ko siyang bumalik sa kwarto pero hanggang sa makatulog ako ay hindi siya bumalik. 

When I woke up, wala na siya. Pero kahit paano ay natuwa ako na bumalik rin pala siya sa kwarto kagabi. Halata naman kasi na hinigaan ang kama sa side niya. Saka nasa crib na niya si Empress. Sa nursery siguro siya nagpalipas ng oras. Anna told me that he went out early. 

Kinagabihan ay hindi ako nag-dinner dahil nawalan ako ng gana. I waited for him. He came home around 3 in the morning. I just pretended to be asleep. After taking a shower, he laid down on the bed, far from me. Napaluha na lang ako.

Lagpas dalawang linggo na kaming hindi nagpa-pansinan ni Zeck. Para lang akong hangin na dinadaan-daanan niya. I was hurt, of course. But I didn't do anything either. Our fight had gotten bigger when I decided to tell Raigne the truth about her boyfriend Inaki. There was a party at Vash's unit and I told her to come over. 

What could I do? I just couldn't ignore what Inaki was doing to Raigne. My friend didn't deserve that. As expected, nagkagulo. Sinaktan ni Raigne ang babae ni Inaki, and yeah, they broke up. Tuluyan na rin napikon sa akin si Zeck. He was so mad at me. Sinigawan pa niya ako sa galit niya. Nasaktan ako at talagang iniyakan ko iyon. After that, he started sleeping in the guest room.

"What should I do, ate?" I asked ate Chela, crying. "We're falling apart."

She rubbed my back. "The best thing to do is to talk to him and tell him every thing. Especially, your feelings. I think I know what you're going through." Matiim niya akong tinitigan. "It's postpartum depression, Missy. But of course, I'm not a hundred percent sure."

"What?"

She explained it to me and that was when it became all clear to me. Napaiyak na lang ako. I felt so weak for letting my insecurities eat me up, and I also hate myself for letting it ruin my marriage. Ate Chela hugged me. 

"None of it is your fault, Missy. Postpartum is not something you can fight alone. You need Zeck's support."

"It is all my fault, ate. Zeck has been nothing but a good husband. He always made me feel loved. It's all on me. I was too weak to fight this."
