Chapter 2

It wasn't much. Just a brief, threatening whisper in my ear, but it was his hands tightly gripping my shoulders that out did me. With a small squeak, my consciousness left me and I quickly fainted. It probably wasn't the smartest decision, passing out at the hands of a stranger, but you can blame my body; I really had no control over it.

When I started to come back around, I didn't have that blissful moment of not knowing what was happening. Immediately, I recognized that I wasn't in my own house, my own room. The bed was too comfortable, the entire place smelled too good and I couldn't hear any obnoxious sounds... besides my own heavy breathing.

At first, I simply laid there, trying to absorb my situation without opening my eyes. I could still feel the heavy material of my jacket and the constricting feeling of my jeans. They were comforting points, letting me know that I was at least still dressed. I slowly started to register a low hum sound and quickly identified it as an air conditioner or fan running. Taking a deep, preparing breath, I braced myself and slowly peeled my eyes open.

It was a dark room, I'll say that much. The walls were a plain, but extremely calming gray color, something I was grateful for in my situation. I was placed upon a huge bed, one dressed in a thick black comforter and more gray sheets. It was a simple room, but still obtained a lived in feeling. There was a soothing rocking chair placed in the corner closest to the head of the bed. Hanging from it was a strangely familiar jacket; a leather one.

Slipping from the warm, tempting bed I stepped barefoot onto the cold hard wood. I frowned down, wondering what kind of strange person would remove my shoes and socks.

Better my footwear and not my entire outfit, I guess.

My movements were slow as I approached the jacket. I guess I was afraid that it would jump up and bite me.

I laughed lowly at myself, fighting down my crazy hysterics as I neared it. Stuck in an unfamiliar house, most likely kidnapped, and I was heading towards a familiar looking piece of clothing instead of the door?

I needed help.

But I couldn't resist. Something about it was so achingly and terrifyingly familiar. As I reached it, I hesitantly brushed my fingers across the material, stirring a scent from its fabric. A strong, male, woodsy smell quickly assaulted my senses and I took a deep breath, feeling oddly comforted by it.

Where had I seen the jacket before?

"I believe that is mine, sweetheart," I scurried backwards in shock, spinning myself around to face the person who owned such a low voice. A tall, strong male body slid from the shadows on the opposite side of the room, the dim light of the room finally illuminating his face.

My air whooshed from me in a gasp as I covered my mouth, stepping back. Startling and bright, those silver eyes observed me in a sharp way, a strange and undefinable look in them. The man from before, the very one I had bumped into and the same one in the alley stared down at me even from across the room. Dark brown hair hung down slightly into his eyes, a feature I hadn't noticed before; it just made him all the more attractive. His monumental, muscled arms were crossed across his broad chest and his legs were set apart as he took a strong stance. Limbs bulging in his simple white t-shirt, I gulped.

Great.

"I... Uh... W-who are you? Where am I?" I questioned quickly, not replying to his earlier statement. He didn't answer immediately, as expected, but simply continued to stare. Finally, he started towards me, rather suddenly, and I quickly jumped to the side and pressed into the side of the bed.
