Jungkook was terrified as Taehyung drove away from the restaurant, but not for his own safety. He knew Tae would never harm him. In fact, the younger had a feeling this was an attempt to save him somehow; he just didn't know what Tae was protecting him from.

"Tae, what happened?"

The elder's hands tightened on the steering wheel, and Tae shook his head, his jaw clenching as he swallowed.

"Okay, we don't have to talk about it yet. Where do you want to go?"

Taehyung was quiet for several moments. "Our spot."

Our spot. How could two little words fill Jungkook with such contentment and hope? "Okay, we can try it. It's a Friday night in June. It might already be taken."

"Let's try anyway."

Tae's hands on the wheel relaxed. Jungkook tried to release some of the tension in his neck. What had Jin done to elicit such rage from his brother? What had Namjoon done to instigate it? Because this had Namjoon's handiwork all over it.

Taehyung reached over and grabbed the younger's hand, squeezing with an intensity that worried Jungkook, but he kept silent. There was plenty of time to ask questions. They had all night.

Fate was on their side. The campsite was vacant. The bedding from the previous night was still in the back of the car. After Taehyung parked, Jungkook climbed out and went around to the hatch to pull it out. Taehyung met him and snagged it first, both of them silent as they walked to the bluff. Taehyung handed the pillows to Jungkook as he spread out the sleeping bag and sheet, then laid the blanket on the pallet. Jungkook tossed the pillows down and turned to Tae, waiting.

The whole night had been an overwhelming roller coaster of emotions. Something big was happening, and Jungkook was intuitive enough to realize this would be a defining moment in their relationship. Whether they moved forward or called it quits. The thought of losing Tae was suffocating.

Jungkook stared at him, overcome with how attractive Tae was. Taehyung could have his choice of just about anybody—the flirty train attendant was proof of that—but the elder was here with him, dealing with his mess and all that it encompassed. Despite the huge hassle, this gorgeous, thoughtful, humorous man had chosen to be with him.

The starry sky was his backdrop, the moonlight giving Taehyung an ethereal glow. Pain and regret welled in the elder's eyes, and Jungkook did the only thing he could to show Tae that he was there for him in the way he'd been there for him.

Jungkook slowly reached for his cheeks and pulled their mouths together.

Taehyung grabbed his hands and tried to pull away. "Jungkook."

"Shhh." Jungkook slipped his hand around to the back of Tae's head and held him in place, his tongue probing his parted lips.

Tae groaned, opening his mouth as he wrapped his arms around Jungkook's back, tugging the younger close. Jungkook's tongue teased his, and Tae released another groan, though the younger could sense Tae was holding back.

Jungkook reached for the buttons of Taehyung's shirt, unfastening blindly as he continued to kiss the elder. Tae pulled back and searched the younger's eyes. When Jungkook cupped his cheek and smiled, Tae opened his mouth as if to say something. Then he stopped and kissed Jungkook instead, pulling his lower lip between his own and raking his teeth lightly along the tender flesh. Jungkook released a soft whimper, grabbing handfuls of the elder's shirt. Taehyung's urgency increased as he reached for the buttons on Jungkook's own shirt, jerking at the fabric until it dropped to the ground. Jungkook resumed his work with Tae's buttons, smiling when the elder unfastened the last one, clearly impatient for him to finish. Jungkook spread his shirt open, his hands skimming Tae's chest. His abdominal muscles tightened under the light touch as Jungkook's hands continued their downward pursuit.
