I'm so sorry that this is extremely late! I got caught up in summer break and I just got a job so I'm focused on other things, hence why this book is closed.

But once again, sorry @RachelKok4 for the lateness of your request and the ones to follow this.

Enjoy

The cold air nipped at your ears and nose, making them a bright red as you walked down the sidewalk. It was early winter in New York but it felt like it was the middle of a snowstorm. You and everyone else were packed inside their homes waiting out the frozen air and heavy snow, but you considered taking advantage of the empty roads and ventured outside.

Though, now you regret it. It was dangerously cold and you thought you had bundled yourself up enough to trudge through snowdrifts and brace the howling wind but it appeared you were unprepared for your adventure. Pulling your scarf closer to your face and tightening up your jacket, you begin to rush to the first store or restaurant that is open on the block.

Multiple buildings have their doors closed and lights off so you have to travel quite a ways from home in order to find a safe enough place to wait the worst of the storm. Your luck seemed to have run out until you found a man who was unlocking a door to the above apartments. Racing over to him, making sure not to slip on the ice, you grab hold of his arm and motion to his home.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but it's really not safe to be out here and I'm too far from my house so I was wondering if you'd allow me into you home for a couple of hours?" He's wide eyed and apprehensive at first but you assure him your not a burglar or a thief  and he leads up the flight of stairs to his apartment. "Thank you so much, sir."

"It's not nothing, and you can call me Matthew," he said, stepping inside and removing the winter jacket from his shoulders. "What's your name miss?"

"I'm (Y/N). It's nice to meet you, Matthew. You've got a nice home." You compliment his house and smile at him as he leads you to his living room, where you hang your winter gear on a coat rack. Matthew goes into the kitchen to heat up some tea as you take a seat on the couch and watch  the snowflakes pile on the windowsill across from you.

"So, why were you out in that storm? Even I couldn't handle it after being out for a minute," your host commented as he returned with two mugs of hot tea, setting one in your hands before sitting next to you on the sofa. "It's not safe for anyone. Especially pretty women."

"Well, thank you..." you blush and shy away from the smile he shines at you as you sip from the cup of tea. "I just wanted to take advantage of the empty streets for once, you know. It's always so packed and I'd like to walk right down the middle of the sidewalk at least once in my life."

The two of you chuckled lightly at your statement before you leant back into your seat and closed your eyes. Matthew stayed silent for awhile while you rested beside him. Before you knew you were asleep and the mug in your hand was set on the coffee table and a blanket was on top of you.

You hadn't known how long your were sleeping for but when you awoke the snow had stopped falling and you heard from outside snow plows in the streets. The sun shone brightly for the first time in a couple of days as you removed the blanket and stood up to stretch. You noticed the sound of footsteps and turned to see Matthew walking out of the kitchen with another warm drink in hand.

"I guess the storm let up," you said to him, smiling as you reached for your gear again. "Thank you once more for letting me stay here for a while. I really appreciated it."

"Of course, (Y/N). It was a pleasure, but I was wondering if you wanted to stay longer?" Matthew questioned, stepping closer to you as you smelled the enticing sent of chocolate wafting from the mug in his hands. "The plows just started and I wouldn't want you to get buried in the snow after the storm passed."

"I actually really have to get back home, though I wouldn't mind meeting you again. Say, Friday at eight." He smiled at you and you couldn't help but to smile too. Matthew agreed and the two of you exchanged numbers before you exited his apartment and ventured back home under the bright blue sky and snow filled streets.
