About Nukekubi:
This yokai is not someone to be around at night. The Nukekubi appears to be a regular human by day, but by night, their head comes off and flies around looking for prey. How pleasant (not).~~
Appearance:
Just like the Rokurokubi, the Nukekubi are normal women but with one difference: they're whole head comes off!~~
Behavior/Interaction:
Nukekubi are more violent than the Rokurokubi. Because their heads are completely detached from their bodies, they can travel farther distances than their much nicer counterpart. On top of that, they seem to have a thirst for blood. The flying head will chase animals' and humans' and sucks the blood of its victims like a vampire, but occasionally brutally bites humans and animals to death. Great...~~
Abilities:
(None in particular)~~
Target(s):
Humans and Animals (okay then...)~~
Escape plan:
The only known way to escape the Nukekubi is to kill it: you have to find the body while the head is still out hunting and kill it before the head can reconnect with its body.~~
Origin story:
This story is a bit sad. Because this is incurable, the curse tends to tear families apart since the Nukekubi is very violent. A Nukekubi suffers from a similar infliction to somnambulism, but the patient's entire soul and head depart from their body. Girls afflicted with this curse were sold off to live in brothels or human circuses, or they are forced to commit suicide to preserve their families' honor.~~
NOPE Rating:
4/5
