About Ohaguro-Bettari:
This yokai is a pretty frighting sight. Ohaguro-Bettari is yokai similar to a nopperabo, but with a gaping mouth full of black teeth (which means they have been married). She is said to appear towards evening (usually midnight) and generally makes a nuisance of herself.~~
Appearance:
From behind, an ohaguro-bettari looks like a beautiful woman wearing a kimono-often a newlywed in her bridal gown. At first, she isn't facing anyone, but when she does, she is a faceless dome slathered in thick make-up with no facial features except a large gaping mouth full of blackened teeth.~~
Behavior/Interaction:
Late at night, Ohaguro-Bettari can be seen hanging around temples and shrines, dressed in beautiful wedding clothes. She sometimes also appears in men's houses, disguised as their wife. At first, her head is turned away from someone, making the person confused enough to go try to talk to her or get a better look at her. When she turns around, the person will be surprised to see a white, faceless dome with the gaping mouth and black teeth. She will then let out a horrible cackle, sending the person running and screaming in terror.~~
Abilities:
(None in particular)~~
Target(s):
Mostly men~~
Escape plan:
I don't know, but I guess ignoring her will be the best.~~
Origin story:
Since the Ohaguro-Bettari is basically related to the Nopperabo in appearance (sort of) and demeanor, they're often blamed on a shape-shifting prankster looking for a laugh from an unwitting person. And because of that, eye-witness is hard to come by because they are too embarrassed about it.~~
NOPE Rating:
3/5
