Looking for a movie that celebrates Irish stereotypes? Look no further than Darby o Gill and the little people.

Darby o gill is a movie that was made by Walt Disney. It tells the tale of an old man, Darby, who is constantly searching and trying to prove the existent of leprechauns. His daughter, Katie, is currently being courted by Michael McBride, aka, Sean Connery, who sings in the movie.  Katie keeps herself busy in the house while her father is in the pub telling stories. King Brian manages to capture Darby in his underground cave but Darby plays some traditional music called The fox chase and they leave and Darby manages to escape. Brian later goes to Darby's shed and Darby gets him drunk and captures him in the morning as his powers dont work in daylight. Darby tells Brian that he'll let his cat, Ginger, eat him if he isn't at his beck and call for a fortnight. After Darby successfully captures him, he decides to show him off to the locals, declaring he caught the king of the leprechauns but everytime he gets someone to look at him, Brian has transformed into a rabbit. Later that night, Brian visits Katie and Michael in their dreams. A week later, Darby and Katie are still not gone out of their house because Darby didn't tell her they hsd to move. Katie, in a fit of rage, goes to the pub and accidentally ruins Darby's second wish. That night, Cleopatra, the horse, goes up to the mountain. Katie is still upset and after Michaels offer to get the horse, she wallops him across the face with a rope. Pony Sugrue, who wanted to court Katie, covered him in drink and laid him against the Lords manor. Darby finds him and then he hears the banshee wail. He and Michael go up to the mountain to find Katie and the horse. The horse is nowhere to be seen but Katie is slowly dying and the banshee, who is like the irish grom reaper, comes for her. After Michael and Darby get her home, the banshee comes again, bringing the death coach with her. Darby sacrifices his last wish and gets the death coach to take him instead of Katie. While in the death coach he accidentally wishes his fourth wish. The next day Michael, Katie and Darby move out. However, Michael fights Pony sugrue because Pony did anything in his power to try and get him fired and take Katie away from him. The truth is that Darby O’Gill and The Little People can’t simply be dismissed as Paddywhackery. It does not come out of an innocent notion of Ireland as the land that time forgot. Walt Disney, in Dublin for that premiere, explained his own position rather subtly. On the one hand, he insisted that he still believed in leprechauns: “Of course they still exist. They are testy little men. . . Leprechauns spend their time drinking Irish whiskey, dancing and watching horse races – very good pastimes. On the other hand, he added that “The Irish people no longer see them because they are thinking about other things. While I appreciate the effort he made into making that video above, im actually debating if he watched the movie or not.
"Started beating him up for no reason?" Pony tried to get him fired and tried to take Katie away. Yay, I wonder why Michael was bothered. And he didn't add in the death coach part. Apart from all that, I recommend watching the movie, it's a good movie. But theres also a bit of a dark side to it. Darby tries to rob the leprechauns, the leprechauns plan to keep him as a prisoner, Darby threatens that his cat will eat King brian, holding King Brian hostage, headless horsemens, its a small bit messed up. Kinda like some old fables being put together and the Irish are doing it in their own unique way. Which works out pretty good. But the special effects they used are simply amazing despite it being an old movie. Even by todays standards they're un-feckin-believable . The leprechauns, the banshee, the horse, the part where Darby falls down the well, etc. As well as all that, the characters themselves are just so lovable, know what I mean?
Darby is like the grandad of the movie but not like the serious kind. He's the one who tells all the stories of the leprechauns, its really enjoyable. Its described as goofy, irish, mythical, legendary, all that stuff. You feel the sense of community in this town. You feel like you understand them, you actually wanna know more about them. You want to go to the local pub to hear a story or work in the fields or you want to have dinner at Darbys cottage because it gives off a nice homely Irish vibe. To some Irish people, they would describe it as a bit over the top. It's a movie that has things in it that other non Irish people would stereotype us as. The music to it is so great as well. You cant help but to like this movie despite all the darkness to it. Its impossible not to enjoy it because its just so fun and silly.
