The Dorms Have Become A Thing/Tadashi Yamano Makes a Choice

Well. After that mess with Kaiser, we have Dorms now. Yeah. Actually, I already know how to take care of myself, so that's okay with me, so...

Yeah, I'll be fine. But that fight with my father is clearly a thing.

I already had everything set up, my punching bag in the corner, and my other equipment inside my room. I also had the desk that supposed to be my kitchen counter as a temporary place to keep my tech. Perhaps the other rooms for storage in my dorm would suffice, but for now, I had other things to do. 

School was cancelled for the time being, as investigation from Pro Heroes were ongoing as of now. We had to stay in the dorms until a notice from an academy official, so we naturally had a contest to see who had a better room. Well...I lost, obviously, this place is still a mess.

Setting up my gloves, I looked at the punching bag, imaging the scenario that I may have to endure after my father heals. I had to keep in shape, it was literally the only other thing, besides tech and sheer dumb luck.

A few quick jabs, pause, another punch. This went on for about an hour, since I always have a timer for individual workouts. Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Karate, Aikido, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu...among other things, was what helped the physical aspects of myself. Without these tricks, my gadgets would become a necessity, and without them, I'd be dead.

I might not have super strength as a quirk, but, at least I can attempt to stall or retreat unscathed from battle. At least, that's the idea.

I was interrupted, however, when my doorbell rang. Huh, probably Mink...he like to sleep here, since it was closer to the river view...don't ask me why, he just does better that way, and who am I to blame him? 

First, I grabbed a water out of my fridge, drinking a good few ounces, before opening the door with my free hand. Heh, Mink again...and...Tsuyu?

"Uh...Tsuyu? What brings you here?" I asked, pleasantly surprised by the second visitor.

"Eh, Deku and Ochaco were doing something with some other students, and I didn't feel like going. And since you are the only other person I tolerate, I'm here," She explained casually, entering alongside Mink.

"Same couch, right?" He asked, and I nodded, and he plopped himself on my sofa, instantly falling asleep after lying on his side, seeing the river from the balcony.

Honestly, he needs a doctor for those odd narcoleptic habits.

Sitting on a different sofa, me and Tsuyu generally talked about school, and the midterms. Apparently, I got extra credit for saving a Pro Hero, and applying all the lessons we went over. Or maybe they felt bad, who knows. But, at least I began to gain a following outside of the student body. Which, isn't much, but at least I don't have to meet any fans.

We also went over our family...apparently, she has other siblings, which sound nightmarish in hindsight, but I'm an only child, so...

"Hehe...but, I know your father is terrible, so, let's not enter that territory. Ribbit," Tsuyu responded, and looked back at me. "Your mother though...what is she like?"

"Hell of a lot better than old sweaty palms himself. She actually trusted and believed in me. And she even was proud in me getting in U. A. Academy. I do text her, when I can. Uh..." She wasn't really responding. So...I poked her, and she immediately came back.

"Need something?" Oh, lord, you almost gave me a heart attack.

"Anyway...we can't really do much, I haven't had cable installed as of yet, the whole floor is being worked on. Anything else, Froppy?" I saw her visibly sigh, and look into space. She seemed to be thinking, given her finger had moved into it's position; clearly in thought.

"Well, there was this other thing...wanna' date?" The hell?! My heart dropped at how casual that was, and even more so because I didn't think she of all people would ask second. "Tooru did say that you both had a mutual discussion, and decided to just remain friends for the time being. And I did ask her about it. And seeing as we have some spare time until classes begin again, I see this as a perfect time to ask,"

"Well...uh...maybe...but, are you sure?"

"What? I'm just asking. You can say no if you want, ribbit," Tsuyu seemed a little calmer than I'd expect from a confession. "Just know...I've grown a little fond of you. You seem nice, and strong-willed. But...also a level of modesty...especially that show in the locker rooms..."

"D-don't remind me!! I still have the nightmares..." I flustered, trying to forget that day, and instead, thinking it over. Was Tsuyu really someone I'd enjoy spending time with? Well...she is the most mature and intelligent person here, a stark contrast from the general student body.

Plus...despite the 'odd' expression, she was definitely cute in a unique way. Of course, I need to ask about how she gets her hair in loops, but that was a different conversation altogether. And, another small thing...I didn't necessarily have a girlfriend. Tooru, for her charms, we only had two dates. And, the rest was mostly platonic, and with others...probably want my true, first girlfriend to be a smart one. Although, I...am not sure about saying yes.

"Bro, go for it. It's not the end of the world, okay?" Ah, Mink. You seem to wake up in the most random of times.

"...Okay, I accept. So...what would our first date be at?" I asked, sighing a breath of relief.

"Meh...just sit here for now. Although...the beach sounds good to me,"

"Is that because, swimsuits?"

"Why else would I suggest something like that? Ribbit. Besides, they have this new seafood place around the boardwalk, along with rides, so, seems like a good way to spend the gap of education," Tsuyu lightly teased, before looking at me. "Of course, that requires that you have no shirt on if you want me in a swimsuit,"

"...Oh, fuck me..." I face-palmed, as Mink silently chuckled himself to sleep. 

Man, things were going to be turbulent over the course of the month long investigation...

"I KNEW IT!!!!" Minoru screamed, causing me to visibly cringe. "YOU'RE WITH THE FROG WITH AMAZING BOOBIES!!!"

"Shut up, ribbit," Ah, the tongue slap; an official trademark since the beginning of my semester. I will never get tired of that, at all.

"That's great Asui-chan!" Deku said, before being corrected by the name situation.

"Well, I'm grateful. You two will be awesome together!" Tooru exclaimed. Huh, she never takes it hard. I'm glad, I was worried she'd be less than stellar after hearing the decision. We need more people like that, to be honest.

Everyone was currently in my dorm, just hanging out.

"Besides that, this fight with your dad. It can't be a serious thing, right?" Ochaco interrupted our polite teasing, bringing us back to the cruel world of reality.

"No...he means it. If I quit the match though, it'll just prove he is right. If I lose, I will prove he is right..."

"So, what're you gonna' do Tadashi-kun?" Deku asked me, concern filling his freckled face.

I grinned, making them all stare at me with anticipation.

"I'm gonna' win. All I really need is to beat him, right? Give me a few days, and I'll pull something outta' my ass, okay?" I told them all. "Remember Kaiser? He was clearly stronger than Bakugo, even if by a little. And with some planning, I beat him, at least, enough to give you guys a chance. All I have to do is exploit a flaw, whether that be a quirk, or a personality difference, I'll find a way...you can count on it,"

"...whoa, is it bad that I'm getting excited?" Tooru uttered.

"Not at all, it's natural to root for the Underdog...good luck, Uno," Mink added, still on the other sofa. 

"Ha, thanks Mink," I looked around, seeing so many trusting faces...except Tooru, for obvious reasons. I'd find a way...I may not have a quirk, hell, I might not even win with any of my gadgets. I may get hurt, I may cry, get tossed aside, and crushed by others. But there is one thing I got that'll endure; human spirit. We had it before quirks, and had it after. And I'll get stronger because of it, because I am still a human being.
