Hoseok
and I were walking to the convenience store, laughing and talking on the way. He seemed like a really nice and cute guy. I was talking about my obsession with Twice's Signal and laughing while looking ahead. After awhile, I noticed how awfully quiet Hoseok was. I looked to my right and saw that he wasn't there. Turning around, I saw him a few feet away talking to... a blue-haired guy? Wow. His hair though. Hoseok noticed that I was watching them, and suddenly roughly shoved the blue haired boy towards me. I shot Hoseok a confused look, and he only nodded subtly as some form of reassurance. "CALL ME LATER," he yelled to me, then ran off.
After watching him take off into the distance, dumbfounded, I finally realized the presence of the blue haired dude next to me. He was really... wow. As soon as my eyes fell on him, his head shot down. Was he staring? I wondered. "Hi, I'm Shim Nami. What's your name?" "You don't need to know. Just show me the way to the convenience store." I furrowed my eyebrows and frowned at him disapprovingly. Rude much. "Um, ok. Sorry." I said plainly. I walked a few steps ahead of him, to make sure I wouldn't have to look at this weird guy. I couldn't help but feel disappointed in how he turned out: he seemed like a really cool guy. After walking for awhile, I heard him whistling a tune, the tune from BTS' DNA. Unaware of my wide smile, I turned myself around, to look at him. Again, as soon as our eyes met, his head shot down, and his whistling stopped. Was he looking at me? Saddened by the fact that he had stopped whistling, I turned again towards the road with my head drooping low. It was my ultimate favorite tune. After a while, we had reached the convenience store. I held the door open for him. Before entering, he looked directly at my eyes for awhile, then walked inside. I could feel my knees wobble for a second. He settled himself at a sofa after buying some ramyeon. After I was sure I wouldn't have to interact with him anymore, I whispered to Yoona asking for some ramyeon. I took my seat near the window, a few seats from him. While I was slurping up the soup, I couldn't help but turn to look at him. And to my surprise, once again, I caught him looking at me. This time, he didn't look away instantly. He stared right back at me for sometime. That moment had me shaking in my shoes. I was still shook when he resumed eating his bowl of noodles. My eyes remained glued to his blue hair, however.
I was sucking up the last noodle in the bowl, when someone firmly tapped me on the shoulder. I jumped a bit upon the sudden contact. Turning around, I looked up to see the boy with the blue hair staring down at me. I was sitting, and he was standing over me. My heart felt like it would jump right out of my chest. He said in a deep voice, "Take this. Hoseok told me to give it to you." After shoving a crumpled yellow sticky note in my hand, he turned around and was proceeding to leave. My eyes remained stuck on him until he reached the door. Before stepping out, he looked back at me over his shoulder. My heart beat at a million miles per hour upon that glance, after which he left the store. Yoona noticed that I was staring at the door even after he had left, and smiled knowingly at me before saying. "Nami, your bowl is empty, I believe?" I snapped back into the real world upon hearing her voice. My faced burned up red in embarrassment as I realized I had been twirling my chopsticks around in an empty bowl. "Oh, um, sorry," I said dazedly.
Even after leaving the store I couldn't stop thinking about the blue haired guy. As I lay in my head that night, thinking about the interaction with him today, I remembered the crumpled paper he gave me. Hurriedly, I fished it out of my pocket and opened it. It had a number written on it in pencil, but with no name. Heart about to explode, and with shaking fingers, I dialled the number into my phone. After a few rings, someone picked up and said in a deep voice, "Hello?" Oh my God. It's him. My heart thumped wildly in my chest, enough to make me think he could hear it from the other end of the line. I placed my hand there, and could feel the crazy heartbeats. "Hello?" he repeated. "N-ne? Y-Yeobuseyo?" I said. I swear, I felt like my veins would pop. "Who is this?" he said plainly through the line. I couldn't help but wonder how this was the same guy who was so rude to me earlier that day; his voice sounded so calm and lovable on the phone. Quickly, I shook off my thoughts and managed to reply. "Um, I- I'm the girl who showed you the way to the convenience store today." Oh my God. I felt like I had died a million times in the few seconds of waiting for his response. After awhile, he said oh and laughed. "It's you. Hey. What've you been up to?"
Shim Nami. Control your heart. At this rate you'll have to go to the hospital.
"Oh, um, nothing. I was just going to sleep. Um, Hoseok told you to give me your number?" Once again, a deadly wait. When he responded, the comfort in his voice had disappeared and was replaced by a distant awkwardness. "Um, y-yeah. Goodnight." He cut the line. That night I couldn't sleep for hours on. For the first time in my 15 years of life, I could relate to something from a book.
