Roselia's POV
After fifteen long minutes of speeding, I felt my insides turning and squeeze together into a ball of waste. Nevertheless, thinking of his emerald eyes worked like magic to distract me from the strong momentum of the car. Ash kept talking to me but I didn't reply because if I opened my mouth just a little, the disgusting breakfast I ate would revoltingly splatter in his car as puke. A disgusting picture yes.
"We're here!" Ash unbuckled my seat belt and his in the quickest way possible.
"I know you're really terrified of the ride and what you're going to face but thank you. You're really brave, you know that right?" Yeah. He was only doing that to make me feel better. Trust me, there are hundreds of thousands of complaints inside my head and anxiety was the only thing that could revolve inside it.
"I need you to do something. I need you to open your eyes in the count of three. Will you do it for me, Sel?" Ash tried his best and he was really good at it. Heh.
"Yes." I slowly whispered.
"1..........2........" At the count of 2, I started opening my eyes slowly and the image of a dilapidated house crystallized. "3....." I fully opened my eyes and looked to the side to find Ash smiling widely at me.
"Ready?" He made sure.
"Ready." I got out of the car in the 'bossiest' way possible and hoped not to vomit right into his face. Ash stayed right beside me the whole time and kept a close distance. A few meters away from us was a wooden cabin with less than functional features to accommodate life. The roof was falling apart, glasses on what was left of the windows were shattered and wooden planks that made up the foundation creaked loudly as they climbed up the front door.
An eerie shiver ran down my spine to the base of my feet. This looked like the best place to commit a murder. No one would know about this place since it was conveniently tucked under layers of pine trees. This was nowhere near the city. This was probably an entirely different state!
Ari and Kade hurriedly ran to us as their car came to a screeching halt. Evan was the last to arrive but he soon followed suit. None of them seemed to be bothered by this situation; no concern on their faces, no convulsing in place, no shaking. In fact, their bodies looked like it was as hard as diamond, ready to take a hit. On the other hand, my brain was scolding me for my imprudence.
'Stupid, stupid, stupid! What have you gotten yourself into.' -Brain
'Leave the kid alone, she was doing this because she cares.' -Heart
'Shut up, the both of you!' -Me.
I cared?
Based on how Kade was lightly carrying a baseball bat on his shoulder and how Ash was cracking his knuckles, they were ready to fight and not the playful one, the blood-splattering, nose-breaking, bruise-inducing fight. I've concluded that Jasper was held hostage inside this cabin. For what reason? I have yet to find out.
You better not die, Jasper.
Ash kicked the door open fiercely whilst Evan stood strongly beside him.
This looked like a James Bond movie and I was in it! Where was the camera? The puke that welled up in me simmered down. It was substituted with adrenaline which was a blessing in disguise. I was about to cry out my battle roar at the sight of the first punch blown but Ari pulled me to the side and hid us in the darkness. Kade didn't have a problem and climbed up the stairs to meet face to face with the villain.
"What?" came out involuntarily as a wail while Ari dragged me to the shadows.
"Don't worry. They'll be fine. They're trained." Ari whisper-yelled into my ear. "You aren't." We found a spot behind a bush, right at the back of the worn-down wooden cabin.
