Poetry Day Eight: Three Wishes

Look up, my love, you said,
The stars are shining bright.
We might get lucky, my love
And see shooting stars tonight.

There it is, my love, you pointed up.
Make a wish, you ready?
I closed my eyes, I smiled,
And held your hand so tight.

There's another one, my love, you said with delight.
Another wish, it's yours, you ready?
I looked at you, I smiled,
And wished what my heart desired.

I rested my head on your shoulder,
And savored this moment with you.
Your fingers brushed on my arm,
And sent tingles up and down my spine.

Oh look! A third one, my love, I said in surprise.
Make a wish, you ready?
You whispered "forever"
Then smiled and kissed my hand.

If only nights like this exist
In our world blinded by fake lights,
Then maybe I can wish for you over and over,
And finally be happy by your side.
