AMACon 4: Serendipitous
Poetry Day Nine: The Sound Of MoonlightIt was the darkest of nights, with just some stars twinkling their lights
When you chose to lay on the damp grass beside the lake
You looked at him with eyes that can make the strongest knees weak
You kissed his lips once, twice, until you both seemed to fall asleepYou opened your eyes and smiled sweetly at his handsome face
While I laid on the calm cadence of the lake's serenade
It was the first time I've seen faces so serene
Like the whole world has disappeared in a moment like a dreamHe wrapped his arms around you as you both marveled at me
I, who only appear when the moon is high and lit
He smiled and pointed at the silent rhythm of my dance
As I blanket over the lake's peaceful waves as it sleptI witnessed your limbs and hearts intertwine
Like there's no one else but you and him and the bottle of wine
You trusted my silence and the embrace of the darkness
Until I'm gone and the sun finally risesAs I bid goodbye and slowly slink away
He held you close and carried you down the lane
He kissed your hair as you continued to sleep
And smiled at me with the secret we'll forever keep(Originally published in "Tapunan Ng Feelings" on January 10, 2017.)
