You are sitting in your bedroom at home after school and had just gotten a text from your boyfriend that he had broken up with you. Deciding the only way you'd feel better would be to isolate yourself so Ethan invites himself over.

Y/N POV

Ring-Ring

I ran down the stairs from my bedroom and opened up my front door to see Ethan standing on my porch with chocolate ice cream and one of his sweatshirts in both of his hands.

"Well aren't you going to come in?" I teasingly asked as he walked in and I shut the door behind him.

He took off of his shoes, placed his jacket on a coat hanger in the closet and gave me his orange sweatshirt to wear. "You told me you were upset but you look fine to me." Ethan stated with his one eyebrow raised as he stared at me intently.

"I am upset." I said and walked sluggishly up the stairs to my bedroom.

When we both got to my doorway, I walked over with Ethan and we both laid beside one another onto my bed.

I grabbed my blankets and covered myself so that only my collarbones and up could be seen. I laid next to Ethan and stared into his bright hazel eyes, our bodies were facing each other and he placed his one arm on top of my waist.

"You're going to be okay Y/N. He wasn't good for you." He whispered quietly.

"I know I just feel like I lost something that was real." I replied, looking up at the ceiling and placing my hands on top of my head, sliding them down my face in frustration.

"You'll find someone new soon. You just have to be patient." He said, his voice softer now as the conversation got more serious.

"But what if I don't want to." I answered, tilting my head to look over at him. He was staring up at the ceiling like I had been doing previously, his eyes seemed lost.

"You don't have to now but one day you're gonna need to." He stated, his hand running throughout his hair as he fixed his covers.

"I know." I replied, turning on my side to stare at the wall. My heart felt heavy as I thought about what had happened earlier that night but I wasn't entirely sad because Ethan was lying right next to me.

He leaned in closer to me so I could feel the hotness of his breath against my skin. Chills ran down my spine as he moved his hand along my body to give me comfort. I couldn't help my heart start to flutter as we laid there, we were best friends not lovers.

Out of fear I took his hand off of my side and his face was painted with guilt. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable!" He spoke loudly with his hands now propping up his face.

"No you're okay, I just don't know what's going on." I stated slowly.

"What do you mean?" He asked worriedly.

I sat up in the bed with the covers still on me and supported my body with my one arm as I looked down at Ethan. He slowly but surely sat up as well and stared directly into my eyes. His face was soft and his words were always so kind.

He was the perfect friend.

"I'm afraid that I like you more than a friend." He spoke, breaking eye contact.

Silence filled the room and I looked back at him to see him staring at me with confusion in his eyes. I wasn't sure if I liked him all that much.

He reached out for my hand and held it close to his chest. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened his eyes back up to stare into my eyes again. I looked at him in confusion and before I knew it his lips had been pressed against mine.

"Wh-what are you doing?!" I yelled out of confusion as I broke away quickly from the kiss.

"I thou- I mean I-" he stuttered, his cheeks flushed red as he started nervously messing with his hair.

"Please get out of my house." I spoke, my words breaking as they came out of my mouth.

The room was silent once again as he got up from my bed, grabbed his things and I heard the sound of his footsteps disappear and the sound of my front door slam shut.

The house was quiet and my body was shaking with the sudden wave of anxiety overcoming me. I couldn't believe I had just pushed my best friend away.

He probably won't talk to me ever again.

My phone in a matter of seconds started blowing up from Ethan with apology texts. Instead of replying, I chucked my phone to the bottom of my bed and laid down on my side with my arms crossed and tears forming into my eyes.

"What happened?" I whispered to myself as a tear gently rolled down my cheeks.
