One Shots

Sarah and Dan Geraghty

            “Daniel Geraghty” I said. “How do you always manage to mess up your hair?” Dan laughed. “I don’t know! It’s not my fault” Dan said. “Come here” I said. Dan walked over to me and I ran my fingers through his soft red hair. “All better” I said smiling. “Now get out so I can change” I said. I turned Dan around and shoved him out of my room. “Just hurry up” Dan said. “Prom starts in an hour and a half” “I know and I will be ready” I said. I shut my door and Dan walked away. I took my prom dress out of my closet and laid it on my bed. I looked at it for a minute. I smiled. This is going to be a great night. I thought. I slipped out of my jeans and Hollywood Ending tee shirt, yes; I am in love with my boyfriend’s band. I see no problem in that.

            I slipped on my light blue dress and put on my pale blue high heels. I curled my hair and pulled it back and held it back with a small flower clip. I think the light blue dress compliments my red hair really well. I smoothed my dress down and walked out of my room. Dan stood there in the den staring at me. “Wow… Sarah you look… stunning” Dan said. I blushed. “Okay Dan, you can pick your jaw up off the floor now” My brother joked. Dan rolled his eyes and smiled a bit. “Sarah, your face is the color of your hair now” My brother said. “Shut up” I hissed glaring at him. My parents came into the room and looked at us. “Aww you two are so cute together” My mom said. Dani smiled and looked at me. “Picture time” My dad said holding up the camera. I groaned but knew there was no way to get out it.

            “Let me guess” Dan said. “The backyard in front of the arch with all the flowers on it” I nodded. “Perfect prom picture place. According to my mom anyways” Dan laughed and he took my hand as we walked outside to my backyard. “Daniel and Sarah first and then we’ll get the family ones where Daniel takes the picture” My dad said. “Why does your dad insist on calling me Daniel?” Dan whispered. “It’s just my dad, he’s very formal” I said. “Oh okay” Dan said. He moved behind me and placed his hands on my waist. “Smile” My mom cried happily. My dad took the picture and Dan and I moved positions and my dad took a few more. “Alright your turn” My mom said pushing my brother forward. “Mom! Do I have to?” My brother complained. “Yes! This is a big night for your sister” My mom said.

            My brother rolled his eyes and reluctantly walked up next to me. We stood back to back and just stared at the camera without smiling. My dad took the picture after trying to convince us to smile for five minutes. After what seemed like hours Dan and I were finally on our way to prom. We got to prom and talked to Tyler, Chris, Mike, and Cameron and their dates for a little bit and then we went to grab a snack. We danced and talked the night away. Around 11 o’clock the DJ came on “Alright guys, it’s time to hit the dance floor for out last song. So grab that someone special, hold them close, and dance like there’s no tomorrow” He said. “May I have this dance?” Dan asked holding out his hand. “Yes you may” I said taking it. The music started and we looked at each other and started laughing.

            “It would be You Got Me” Dan said laughing. I laughed. “That’s okay, let’s just dance the night away” I said. Dan smiled and we continued dancing. “Hey Sarah” Dan said. I looked up and stared into his eyes. “I love you” He said. I grinned. “I love you too” I said. “You’re my little kitty cat” Dan laughed and then leaned in and kissed me. I was right. I thought. This really was a great night.
