Matchmaking Disaster (5)

Thank God it's Friday, and just after a month, it'd be summer. Yay! I was excited to go home.

I missed my mom and dad, and of course, my sister, Emerald. She's four years younger than me, and we were very close to each other. When she knew that I was going to study here in New Jersey, she cried all night. It pained me to see her that way but I had to study. So, what I did to comfort her was sleep with her in her room.

"Sapphire Anderson," a familiar voice says, causing me to snap my head up. It's Algebra, so I was feeling a little sleepy. I thought that I would be scolded but I thought wrong. "You are allowed to go now. You have rehearsal," my professor said.

I stood up lazily and went out of the room. I was on my way to the gym but someone made me stop from walking. There she was, glaring at me. So, I did the same, and then I thought of teasing her so I just smirked.

She walked towards me and I was still annoyed at her to see those boots she was wearing. "Sapphire Anderson. What a pity," she said. And I felt more annoyed to her because she's smiling like crazy.

I just let out a breathe, turning my head to the side then back at her. I really couldn't stand this Britney. Along with the fact that she flirted with my boyfriend and the way how she dressed herself, it's annoying!

"Didn't you know?" she asked, smirking still.

My eyebrows furrowed at her. What's that supposed to mean? What was she talking about?

"Oh. I see. You don't know." She smiled sheepishly, but teasingly.

I swore I could have pulled all those hair of hers.

"What is it anyway? Just spit it out!" I growled at her, tired of waiting to what she's going to say.

"You know," she started, "it's about this annual celebration and everything. They had already chosen will be paired up with whom. And I can't help but think that it's just fate." She stopped. She's getting on my nerves already.

               I looked at her menacingly.

"Well,  Harry and I are partners. You heard me right. And I can't wait to hang out with him... every day," she whispered the last part, and I couldn't help but feel annoyed about what she said.

"I don't care!" I snapped, but I could tell that she didn't believe me. At all. She didn't bother to say a word to me. She spun around and walked away.

For all I care! I screamed inside my head.

When I finally arrived at the gym, I saw the decorations hanging here and there. I guessed this annual celebration was really something. I couldn't help but remember what Britney told me earlier.

My thoughts were cut off short by something cold pressed onto my back. "What the—" I shrieked, causing everyone in the gym to look at me. I spun around to see a grinning Zac with an ice bag in his hand. "What's that for?" I demanded, scowling at him.

He cleared his throat before saying, "Well, I had a bruise here." He pointed his finger to his left arm. "Then, I thought of pressing it onto your back. I'm surprised that you didn't jumped." He smiled.
