I pull out my duffel bag out from under my bed. I stuff the bag with the basic essentials I need to go back to Wakanda. King T'Chaka sent me to the United States as a spy. I was in the middle of a mission when the inside of my lip started to burn. This was a sign that I was being summoned by the Royal Family, and that I needed to report back to them immediately.

When I first came to America, I was twenty years old. I was searching around for a place nearest to the where a secret Wakandan internment camp was.

Rebels and escaped prisoners run to America in attempt to have a normal life. Some of them get caught in the process, they were being tortured for information pertaining to the location of Wakanda.

It was my job to make sure that didn't happen. King T'Chaka knew that this mission will get accomplished. Not only because I was trained by my cousin Okoye, but because I was born with special abilities. I have to the power to control the elements.

She was heartbroken when I volunteered to become a Wakandan spy, but ever since my parents were assassinated by an unknown terrorist group, I didn't want to stay in Wakanda. I was five years old when it happened. I'm wasn't scared that I will get assassinated, I just didn't want to be constantly reminded of the tragedy of my parents.

Once I found an apartment near the camps, Tracy and her husband Jim were my neighbors. They were the most friendliest and compassionate elderly neighbors I have ever been around.

No matter how antisocial I came off as, they still didn't take no for an answer. Then one night, I came home bloody and crying; they took me in and took care of me. They didn't ask any questions and they didn't push me to talk either. They were the perfect parents, and to them, I was the perfect child.

"Are you sure you have to leave?" Tracy asks as she walks into my room.

"Yes, I have to. My family called me saying that there was an emergency; they told me to come home." I say.

"When will you be back?" She asks.

"I... don't know if I will be coming back." I say sadly.

"Oh." She says as her face droops with sorrow.

I walk over to her and pull her in for a hug. I gently caress the brown, paper thin hair as I console her.

"It's been five years since they last spoke with you; they disowned you. And when they call you, you drop everything and run back to them. I don't understand." She says as she sniffles.

"They didn't disown me, Trace. I wanted to leave because I couldn't stand to stay there after my parents. It's a custom to drop everything and go back to your family when they call." I say.

She pulls away from the hug and holds the sides of my face.

"We are your family too, and we want you to stay." She says as tears slip down her pale, wrinkled face.

Her ocean blue narrow at me as I think of what I should say next. I gently hold her hands in mine and say:

"I will make sure to call you twice a week. Or I could FaceTime you."

"Wekesa, you know that I have no idea how to work my IPhone. That's why Jim and I always ask you do to those things." She says.

I press a kiss on the back of her hand and say:

"I love you, Trace."

"I love you too, sweetheart." She says.

"Jim, come in here and say goodbye to our babygirl." She calls from the room.

Soon after, Jim emerged from the darkness in the hallway. His tears reflect off from the brightness of my room.

"Jimmy," I start.

I walk over and engulf him in a hug. I rest my chin on his shoulder and he asks:

"Are you sure you have to leave now? It's getting late."

"Yes, I have no go as soon as possible. It doesn't matter how late it is." I say.

I press a kiss on his cheek and throw my duffel bag across my body.

"We're going to miss you baby." Tracy states.

"I'm going to miss you guys too." I say.

I give them one last glance and blow them a kiss before I drive to the Wakandan ship waiting for me.

I finally arrive at the address that Okoye sent me via Shuri's hollogram beads. I wipe away my tears before I walk out of my car. I look up into the sky to see the ship. The sound of metals creaking and steam hissing, catches my attention. I jump into my fighting stance and glow my eyes a special light purple.

"Whoa, whoa. Easy, Panther." Okoye states with a small smile on her face.

"Okoye!" I say as I run in her arms.

"Ek het jou gemis, neef." She states as she pulls
me into her embrace.
(I missed you, cousin)

"Ek het ook na jou verlang." I say back.
(I missed you too)

I look passed her shoulder to see T'Challa in his the Panther suit. T'Challa and I grew up with each other in the I furrow my eyebrows and ask Okoye:

"Since when did Chi become the Black Panther?"

"He'll explain on the way back to Wakanda, come." She says leading me into the ship.

"Esa, dit is 'n rukkie sedert ek jou mooi gesig gesien het." He compliments.
(Esa, it's been a while since I saw that beautiful face)

A playful smirk plays on his lips as pulls me in for a hug. He squeezes me and he rests his chin on top of my head.

"Dit was 'n rukkie sedert ek daardie playboy glimlag gesien het." I say as I pull away.
(It's been a while since I saw that playboy smile)

I smile back at him and his smile fades as he takes my hand into his.

"What is wrong, Chi?" I ask.

"There was a lot that happened while you were gone." He says as motions me to sit down.
