Going to School

When I pulled up in my parking spot everyone's attention was on me. Secretly I hated the attention but being popular had its advantages. I don't even know how I became popular, but I guess if your dad used to be the Alpha and your brother is now the Alpha, than I would be well known. A crowd swarmed me and Katy and one of the girls handed me and Katy a latte. Since people wouldn't stop bothering us we paid them some attention, and they gave us whatever we wanted including coffee every morning.  The best thing about Werner high school is that everyone was a werewolf. Humans weren't allowed to register in order to avoid being discovered, so we didn't have to worry about hiding our true nature. Unlike other schools we had a lot of open space and the school was surrounded by woods. It was a plus that majority of our classes were outside, so our wolves didn't have to feel confined in a classroom. Walking into school I could already hear people gossiping about the party last night, and I was stopped by the most mouthwatering scent ever. It was a mixture of pine wood and axe. Usually, I wouldn't find that intriguing since every guy in the school smelt like outside and axe body spray, but this one scent was driving me crazy. "Are you okay?" Katy asked worried, and I snapped out of my daze. "If it's about what they're saying at the party, you have nothing to be ashamed of, that guy was a jerk," Katy coaxed and I nodded. What I really was worried about was that mouthwatering scent. It had to be the scent of my mate and I was by no means in a rush to meet him, not now and possibly not ever. Quickly composing myself before anyone else noticed, Katy gave me a reassuring look. Giving a small smile, I asked my friend Reba, the stats. Reba knew anything and everything about what was happening in and out of the school. She was my inside man, or should I say women. Any gossip, the latest style, school schedule, pack news. She had all the resources. "There's a football game next Friday, a pep rally seventh period, there are five new kids, and there are two tests and one pop quiz in your classes, also the cafeteria is having pudding for dessert" Reba rambled off. "Thank you Reba," I said then turned to my school investigator, Jessica. "Run a report on these five new kids. I want to know where they're from and what pack they belong to" I ordered. Jessica nodded and went on her way, and the bell rang signifying it was time for class. I would talk to some of them later at lunch, thank god I had all my classes with Katy. Which I admit was done on purpose. We both walked to a bench in the courtyard and sat down, since we didn't have first and second period, due to being ahead our Senior year. Katy was the first to talk," so spill, what was up with you this morning you totally zoned out." I sighed and said," I can smell my mate and I'm guessing he's one of the new kids, but I don't want to meet him." Katy gasped and said,"what,  why not? You can't just write him off before you meet him. I would kill to know who my mate is." I shrugged and said," maybe I should talk to my wolf she hasn't said anything in a while," I told Katy.  I called her name," violet" and she instantly responded," I'm here, I know our mate is here, and I know your worried since you've never been able to shift, so you thought our mate would reject us, because you thought you were weird, but he's here." I stopped her rambling and asked her what the hell she was talking about. I never had those thoughts? "Yes, you did. You were thirteen and it was the age you were supposed to shift but you never did, and you kept asking your parents what was wrong with you. I remembered that day I was crying my eyes out and my parents couldn't give me an answer, they kept saying I wasn't ready. But what does that have to do with my mate. "I'm excited to meet him but I'm afraid you're not going to cooperate ever since your father died." After she made that comment I blocked her out. I did not want to talk about that subject. I looked at Katy and she stood up and said,"you can tell me later the bell is going to ring." Dragging me to my next class I couldn't help but notice the distant and sad look on Katy's face. I wondered what I did now, it probably had something to do with her mate. Going to our next class which was science, I dragged Katy back to my locker, but halfway down the hall I smelled that mouthwatering scent again. Never mind going to my locker now. Katy looked at me confused as I swirved her in the direction of our class. I lied and said," I'll just borrow Taylors text book, I forgot mine at home." Katy scolded me but didnt say anything, and as we neared the classroom Katy bumped into some unfamiliar looking guy. I looked up to see an unfamiliar face with Jessica, so i guessed it was one of the new kids. I sized him up and down, observing his dirty blond hair and piercing green eyes. I couldn't help but notice he wasn't a werewolf and was staring at Katy in awe. Confused I looked at Katy who had a confused look as well, and continued dragging her to class. I waved Jessica goodbye and told her to talk to me at lunch, now was not the time for introductions. I looked at the new kid and noticed him frowning then giving me a death glare, I rolled my eyes and continued talking to Katy. "That was wierd, he wouldn't stop staring at you," I told Katy. " I know it was weird and creepy, he was looking at me like he expected something from me," Katy replied shivering for effect. I laughed and continued walking," yeah it was creepy, like can I have my face back". Katy and I laughed as we entered the classroom just before the bell rang, and we sat in the back lab area next to Taylor and Brad. I asked Taylor if I could borrow his text book and he said sure while winking at me. I laughed and blowed an air kiss back. Katy elbowed me to focus and I rolled my eyes in response, getting back to the boring topic. I didn't even know what topic we were discussing, but I started taking down notes anyways. I may not like school but I wasnt going to fail my senior year for anyone. The bell rang and I scribbled down the rest of my notes before catching up to Katy. "Can I borrow your notes at lunch I wasn't paying attention for half of it," Katy asked. I raised an eyebrow at her and after seeing her facial expression, it was distant and sad again. I pulled her off to the side in one of our outside courtyards and asked," whats wrong? And don't tell me it's nothing". Katy sighed and told me," I don't know, I just keep getting these sad and distant feelings. Maybe I'm just worried about meeting my mate. My birthday isnt far and I cant help feel like im missing something. And now that your mate is here and you want nothing to do with him, what my mate doesn't want to be with me." Katy eyes grew wide as if registering what she said, and she looked at me as if she was waiting for me to yell at her. I rolled my eyes then frowned. I didnt know she felt this way. " Me not wanting to find my mate has to do with my personal issues, Katy. Besides who wouldnt want a beautiful, intelligent, and kind mate like you. You shouldn't let someone you haven't even met affect you. You could be worrying for no reason, he could be a great guy." She smiled then frowned again," Its fustrating not knowing who your mate is. He could be right infront of you and you not even know it." I sighed knowing what she meant. Until you turned eighteen you wouldnt know who your mate was, unless the other was already eighteen. I hugged  her and said," It's okay you'll find him. Now let's go, we already skipped English I don't want to miss lunch." Katy nodded and then frowned at something in the distance, and I looked behind me to find the same new kid staring at Katy with a longing face. Now he was taking it to a new level. I went towards him to teach him a lesson but was tugged by Katy. Reluctantly, I followed along but glared at the guy, which he returned with a glare. Katy just rolled her eyes at me and continued tugging me to her locker that happened to be next to mine. We put away our books and I took out my notebook for pre-calc since I had it after lunch. Then I proceeded to walk off with Katy to the cafeteria.
