HEAT/ NIGHTMARE

EMMA'S POV

I was finally sleeping in peace, dreaming about a conversation I had with my dad, when suddenly I felt hot. Like extremely hot. It felt like every single part of my body was on fire and my skin was frying in hot grease. I threw the covers off me  thinking it would cool me down a bit, but it wasn't working. Every time I thrashed around, pain seemed to erupt everywhere. Eventually, I ended up on the floor and even its coldness couldn't help me. That's when I realized what was happening. I was going through heat. I wasn't even sure it was possible to go through heat right now, but my situation wasn't exactly normal having powers and all. My clothes suddenly felt like needles pricking my skin, so I dressed down to a sports bra and underwear. "Em, are you okay?" Xavier said catching me off guard. He sounded worried. I didn't get a chance to answer as I cried out bloody murder, and Xavier burst through the door. I frowned, didn't I lock that? I let out another scream and suddenly people were gathering  in my room to see what the commotion was. I was seeing dark spots as my body kept exploding in pain, and I let out a sob. "Make it stop," I begged. I heard someone say," whats happening to her", and my mother say," someone help my baby". Xavier then spoke up and said," She's going through heat." I heard everyone gasp and I rolled my eyes. "Someone help me." I pleaded and everyone turned their attention back to me. I heard someone leave the room then come back and next thing I know cold water is being dumped on me. I sighed in relief but only for a second because, the pain hit me again but this time twice as hard. Now screaming bloody murder, I felt someone scoop me up and cradle me. Only then did the pain start to subsided, and I was grateful. Looking up I saw Xavier looking at me with so much lust in his eyes, and I involuntarily gasped. That's when I heard lot's of growls, and windows being smashed. " I think we're under attack?" someone stated.  My eyes widened in shock at those words and Xavier said," It's her heat, its drawing attention from a lot of unmated males." My eyes widened even further and Colton said," how do we make it stop? It's drawing attention from beyond our pack, I can sense a lot of wolves crossing our border." I started to hyperventilate and my mate looked at me worriedly. " I know a way to stop the wolves temporarily," Xavier said after a moment of strained silence. My brother looked at him expectantly and my mate  gave me a weak smile. "No," I said after my mate was looking at me deviously. He pouted and my brother asked Xavier what he was talking about. Xavier then let out a frustrated sigh and raked his already messy brown hair, after a few minutes Xavier finally said," isn't it obvious I have to mate with her."!I frowned at the idea already disapproving and Colton frowned in confusion, I knew my brother was a little slow to get things but come on he should of clicked the two pieces together. The rest of the people in the room who consisted of Jace, Derek, Katy, Reba, Kyle, Alex, and my mom gave knowing looks. That's when Colton decided to say," but only her mate can mate with her to stop the heat", saying the last part a little angry. My mom smacked him in the back of the head and said," you big dummy Xavier is her mate, you blind fool". After my mom said that, Colton's eyes grew wide as if he put the pieces to the puzzle. I rolled my eyes and Colton blushed a little embarrassed he didn't figure it out. Then another window crashing reminded us of the predicament we were in and everyone looked at me expectingly. I looked at them crazy and said," you expect me to have sex with this random guy so a bunch of horny wolves will stop attacking us!? I thought this was the strongest pack in the U.S. why can't you fight them off!" saying the last part hurt and angry that they would consider such a thing. I crossed my arms and winced from the pain that didn't completely go away. Colton looked at me with a frown and said," He's your mate not some random guy. Normally I wouldn't agree with this because your my baby sis, but this is for the sake of the pack, who knows what those horny wolves would do to get to you". Then Kyle added," unless you want those unmated wolves to rape you." My mom smacked Kyle in the back of the head and Kyle glared at the ground while rubbing  his head. My mother turned to me with a small smile and I silently thanked her for the support. I glanced at Xavier waiting for him to say something and he said," What I was going to say before I was rudely interrupted, was that I could mark her to let the inmates wolves know she was mine. It initiates the mating process, but we wouldn't have to complete." He looked disappointed that I didn't want to mate fully, but he also understood. "We don't have much time left before the wolves reach the fourth floor, you have to decide if you want me to mark you or not," Xavier said. At least he was giving me a choice. I looked at the people in my room, and told them to leave. Everyone immediately left the room to give us some privacy. "Yes," I said suddenly breathless. "But only because I have too," I added. I saw Xavier nod then he placed me on his lap so I was straddling him. Gasping at his sudden movement he took that as an advantage and kissed me while searching through my mouth with his tongue. It took me a moment to realize what was happening but I recovered and started kissing him back. Our tongues danced with each other and I let out a moan from pleasure. I roamed Xavier's hard chest feeling his eight pack through his shirt, earning a moan from him. Wow this was amazing, why didn't I do this sooner. We broke apart looking into each others eyes in a daze and Xavier's eyes were flashing gold. Only taking a second to catch our breaths we went back to kissing passionately. I don't know what came over me but my wolf was jumping in excitement, loving every moment of it. Xavier then broke the kiss, leaving me panting and his lips traveled lower down my neck, tilting my neck to give him better access, Xavier nipped my skin while kissing and sucking where my mark would soon be. Feeling his canines graze my skin I suppressed a moan and felt his teeth puncture my skin. I screamed from the pain but it soon turned to pleasure and we both let out another moan. I heard Xavier growl and made his way back to my lips. but this time our kisses were more hungry and craving for more. I heard knocking and I pulled back as reality hit me like a ton of bricks. Looking around I realized that Xavier was on top of me and and his shirt was off, since I was in my undergarments I blushed and pushed Xavier off me. He still looked in a daze and he smirked at me when he noticed me blushing. I never blush I thought to myself. Not feeling the pain anymore I scooped up Xavier's shirt off the floor and put it on me to intact the rest of my dignity. The shirt was like a dress on me and I sighed relieved that it reached my knees. When the knocking continued, I opened the door and Colton rushed in. He looked to me and Xavier and glared at him "It's done, the wolves are gone. Now don't ever touch her again after, this got it," Colton threatened. Xavier growled at him, still feeling the effects of the marking. His wolf was real possessive at the moment. My brother felt challenged and returned a growl, and it quickly turned into a growling contest. My mom soon walked in looking annoyed and smacked both of their heads, I smiled at her for knowing what to do and the guys both rubbed their heads while looking at the floor ashamed. My mom smiled at me knowingly and rolled her eyes, now looking serious she pointed at Colton and Xavier and said," you guys needs some manners, growling in front of a lady is a no no, and as for the pack, we need a meeting. Everyone is confused as to what  just happened," then she walked off. Colton grumbled something about me not being a lady and I shoved him and Xavier out of my room. Leaning against the door I sighed and raked my hair frustrated, why does my life have to be so dramatic. I was preparing to go back to bed, when someone burst through my door, yelling at me to get up. I groaned and threw a pillow at the intruder. Katy and Reba dodged the pillows as they stared at me with huge grins on their faces. Groaning some more I turned around hoping they would get the hint and leave, sadly my dreams didn't come true and Katy and Reba jumped on the bed shaking me to get up and tell them what happened. Sitting up defeated I said,'' Nothing happened that you don't already know, now leave". They looked at me pouting, giving their signature puppy dog looks. "I said nothing happened and that's final," I said with finality. I finally cracked after ten minutes of intense pressure, they were so persistent and I just wanted them out of my hair so I could go to sleep. I complied to their stares and said," what do you want to know". There faces lit up excited and I groaned, this was going to be a long conversation.
After telling the short version of Xavier marking me, Katy and Reba wouldn't stop teasing me about it. They were also disappointed that I didn't tell them Xavier was my mate when I first saw him at school. The rest they already knew. Now it was my turn to interrogate them. I found out Reba found her mate a day ago which turned out to be Jace, and that they met at a party and he came to her rescue when she was drunk and about to fall down the stairs. Katy told me how she met Alex at the hospital when she went to go see me and I couldn't help but wonder why Kyle and Derek didn't attack me when they were unmated. Leaving that question for later, Katy and Reba started talking about the latest drama at school and how nothing was the same without me there. Glad that I didn't have to worry about a flock of people attacking me anymore, one question was stuck at the back of my mind. I decided to voice it out and said," what happened to Jessica? I haven't seen her since yesterday when she was walking off somewhere, I thought I would get to talk to her". They both gave me confused looks and Reba said," you're right I haven't seen her lately not even a call or a message to say hey." "What about Taylor? Have you told him you found your mate yet?" Reba asked. "Not yet. I haven't seen him around either," said with a yawn. Katy and Reba took that as their cue to leave and said they would talk to me later. Hugging them goodbye I wasted no time laying down in my bed to fall asleep, somehow after talking about Xavier marking me I fell asleep, my last thoughts were those pink lips as I finally fell asleep.

*BAD DREAM*

EMILY'S POV

I was having a nightmare about the upcoming war and I wished I never fell asleep. I saw things that would permanently scar you forever. The worst part was that it felt so real. There were a large number  of rogues and vampires, and I feared that the pack wouldn't be enough to stop them. They just kept coming and coming. I continued to walk through the battle field and my body kept tugging me towards a direction. I placed a hand over my mouth in horror as I came closer to the scene. I dropped to my knees as I placed a shaky hand over Xaviers form. His eyes were lifeless as a gaping wound leaked blood. "No," I sobbed out. "No!" I screamed clutching Xaviers form to myself. There was an inexplicable pain in my chest as if my heart was tearing apart. It was agonizing, a pain no one should ever feel. The scene before me suddenly went dark and I desperately looked around me as tears streaked my face. I gasped in shock as the lights turned on again and I was in a white room with Alex staring at me unfazed. "What you just saw, was not a dream. This is what's destined to happen if you don't accept Xavier," Alex stated. "Okay. I won't push him away anymore, is that what you want to hear? Just make it stop!" I begged. "I don't think you understand Emma. Xavier might not want to tell you this, but you're risking everyone's lives. It's more than pushing him away, you need to mate with him," Alex stressed. "Why is mating with Xavier so important. I don't know him, I don't trust him. The last thing I'm going to do is sleep with him!"I remarked. I shook my head not believing any of this was true. We could win the war without me having to sleep with Xavier, the notion was preposterous. Alex suddenly grabbed me by the neck and said,"you think I care about you and Xavier's nonexistent relationship. Everyone you love or know is going to die, including Katy, if you don't do what's necessary to win the war," he said the last part pained. "But what does mating have to do with this!" I said frustrated. "It's not about the sex, it's about the bond. We need the bond between you and Xavier to stand a chance," Alex admitted. I frowned. Was this a power thing? Would I not reach my full potential unless I was bonded with Xavier? "I know this isn't easy for you, but this isn't about you anymore. Look at the lives that were lost during that battle, that was just the beginning. Without that bond, werewolves will cease to exist," Alex said serious. "Okay..." I whispered. I had to stop being selfish, I had to think about others. "Good," Alex stated before he disappeared, and my dream along with it.
