Alibel woke up the next morning. The words of Death echoing in her head :"For no matter the pain, you are the cure..."

What cure? Why did he say that? How could Alibel heal his pain? And what pain? Really, she should stop thinking about every word he said. Most of all he said was meaningless, she thought.
Well, no matter what, she was going to meet with him again tonight. She dreaded the worst. She felt a mixture of fear: the fear of the unknown; the fear of the dark; the fear of dying. But most importantly, her greatest fear was being unable to fulfill the pact with Death to save her sister.

Her phone vibrated.

"Who could it be?", she asked out loud.
She took her phone and saw a message. It was Zayne. It read:
"My charming Alibel, Good morning. I know I said it almost a thousand time but I missed you. Can I come to see Camelia and you this afternoon?"

What was she supposed to do now? She couldn't ignore every fact Death presented her with. Zayne had been clearly manipulated. She couldn't help but ask herself if he would have felt the same towards her if his fate had not been tempered with. She didn't know if she should still meet up with him or not. Death said that the effect would be diluted on the long run. But deep inside she knew that Zayne was not a bad guy. She knew him since long. She doubted that that woman named Fate added anything extra to his personality. She certainly put more emphasis on his good traits, that's all. Maybe she should meet with him then and try to see deep down if he meant everything he said. Even though Zayne had been influenced, he was certainly the best man she had met. Death could say all those words, saying she was his woman, his cure but they were both aware that anything other than the pact was impossible between them. Well, if he wasn't aware of it, or if he chose to ignore it, she on the other hand was well aware of it and fully acknowledged it.

So she wrote back:

"Good morning  Zayne. Yes, you can come. Let's say at 5 p.m. See you later."

The reply came faster than she expected.

"See you later love...."

Love. She hoped he felt real love for her because Zayne was the only one that could cure her addiction to Death.

It was better to fall in love with Zayne.

Yes because if she fell in love with Death, it could prove to be fatal.

She hoped it wasn't too late. Her mind convinced her that it was not. But her heart, it lured her to him. Wanting her to claim him as hers as he was claiming her as his. But Alibel couldn't afford to be in love with him. To fall in love with him was too dangerous. He was dangerous. His world was dangerous. And she found herself at the core of all this danger, out of her own volition. She found herself in the mist of a clearly terrific war. She knew it. She felt it. By doing this pact with Death, she brought danger to her doorstep. And she knew that by falling in love with him, she could bring worst into her life: complete pandemonium, that would be her punishment if she fell in love with Death. She decided that she should mute her heart to this dark attraction between them. Well, she hoped she could.

Later on, 20 p.m ....

Zayne came and brought soup for Camelia. He said that today Alibel could spend more time with him if she didn't have to cook. Well, now Alibel was in deadlock. There was no way she could avoid him now. Furthermore, he said that he wanted to have a private conversation with Alibel. Now how could she avoid it? There was no way out. And soon enough, when Camelia was sleeping, exhausted after playing so much with Zayne, he came to sit next to Alibel. He held her hands. Involuntarily, she couldn't help but compare his warmth to Death's coldness. She was tugged in between 2 very different persons.
