Abby walks through the door drenched in wet clothes from the rain. Carrie slowly lifts her head up and looks in Abby's direction.
"Abby, I'm sorry." Carrie apologizes.
"I know you are. I'm sorry I misbehaved." Abby says sitting down next to Carrie and I.
"I should have never laid my hands on you. I didn't mean to. It just all happened so quickly. My nerves started rushing and before I knew it, my hands were on you." Carrie says crying into her hands.
"Mama, it's okay. I deserved it." Abby pleads.
"No! No kid deserves that! I don't believe in hitting. I regret what I did, and it hurts that I can't take it back." Carrie says getting up.
"Mom, I promise you. I'm fine. It's fine. It's over now. Can we please just forget about it?" Abby's asks.
"I think it's for the best to forget about it." I say to them both.
"Okay... I guess so." Carrie says with a tiny smile.
