"Hey Archie can you come help me with the groceries." Fred says as he walks in and puts the food on the counter.

"Fred!" Jelly screams as she runs up to him and hugs

"Jellybean?! What are you doing here?"

"I came to visit. So do you know why Reggie and Mariah broke up Freddy?"

"It is adult business JB. Do you want Mac and cheese?"

"Sure."

"Hey Mariah can I talk to you upstairs?" Archie asks

"Sure." I say as we head upstairs...... As we walk upstairs I can tell that something that is on his mind.

"Arch, is everything ok?"

"Kinda." He says as we enter his room

"What do you mean by kinda? What's wrong?"

"What's going on with you and Sweetpea?"

"Nothing."

"Yeah right."

"It's nothing Archie. He's just a friend. Why?"

"It doesn't seem like nothing."

"Arch. I don't want a boyfriend right now. Ok?"

"Yeah. You should tell Jelly the truth."

"About?"

"Reggie."

"I.....I can't Archie. It will destroy her."

"So, your not going to tell her."

"Not until I have too."

"Are you becoming a serpent Mari?"

"No."

"Then why were you and Jug wearing serpent jackets down at the quarry?"

"A member of the serpents gave them to us to show that we a have family that will help us."

"Why couldn't you just turn to my dad and I?"

"Because I can't turn to the two of you for everything. It's not right. Plus my dad trust the serpents and I do too."

"Why?"

"Because, they helped my dad and they'd are good people Arch.

"Their a gang Mariah. All they do is hurt people. You don't deserve to be a serpent."

"I don't.... I don't deserve to be a serpent!?"

"That's not what I meant."

"Then what do you mean?"

"I mean that your so good and pure and the serpent their.... their not..."

" Archie, the serpent, are my family."

"Your family?"

"Yes, my family. They...they had my dad's back when he had no one did."

"Do you love Sweetpea Mariah?" Archie asks with a small look of anger in his eyes.

"I don't know what love is Archie."

"Mariah that's not true."

"It is though Arch.... I have never actually been in love with someone. Not even Reggie made me feel loved."

"Then why were you with him?"

" because I liked him and I thought I loved him but, I didn't."

"And Sweets?"

"what about him?"

"You like him right?"

"As a friend." I say as Fred calls us to come back downstairs.

"Coming Mr A." I say as I walk downstairs and wash my hands before taking a seat beside Jellybean and start to eat dinner....
