I SIGH AS WE APPROACH an old-looking house. Nervous, the three of us trade looks and Dean eventually rings the doorbell. I grow anxious as we wait for an answer the this mystery. “You Chuck Shurley?” Dean asks as a man opens the door.
“The Chuck Shurley who wrote the ‘Supernatural’ books?” Sam asks.
“Maybe, why?” The man asks coarsely.
“I’m Dean, this is Sam, and my sister Rowan. You’ve been writing about us.” Dean says. Chuck gives us a knowing nod and closes his door. Dean rings the doorbell again.
Chuck opens the door again. “Look, uh, I appreciate your enthusiasm. Really, I do. It’s uh, it’s always nice to hear from the fans. But uh, for your own good, I strongly suggest you get a life.” He says and attempt to close the door.
Dean stops him, holding open the door. “See here’s the thing, we have a life. You’ve been using it to write your book.” Dean says and pushes past Chuck.
“Now wait a minute, now, this isn’t funny.” Chuck says, panicking because three strangers just entered his house without his permission.
“Damn straight it’s not funny.” Dean says angrily.
“Look we just want to know how you’re doing it.” Sam says softly.
“I’m not doing anything!” Chuck says.
“Yeah, I call bullshit, what are you doing?” I ask.
“I’m not-”
“Are you a hunter?” Dean cuts him off.
“What? No I’m a writer.” He says incredulously.
“Then how do you know so much about demons, and tulpas, and changelings?” Dean asks. Dean walks toward Chuck who backs up until he falls onto his couch.
“Is this some kind of ‘Misery’ thing?” Chuck asks us. “Ah, it is, isn’t it? It’s a ‘Misery’ thing!” Chuck yells.
“It’s not a ‘Misery’ thing believe me we are not fans!” Dean yells.
“I am.” I say sarcastically. Dean rolls his eyes at me.
Well then what do you want!” Chuck asks us.
“I’m Sam, that’s Dean, and that’s Rowan.” Sam says.
“Those three are fictional characters and Rowan wasn’t even introduced into the plot! I made them up! They’re not real!” Chuck says.
“Follow us.” Sam says. We lead Chuck out to the car and they show him the Arsenal of a trunk.
