I GASP AS MY FEET FALL and become cold. “What?” I ask tiredly.

“I wanted a sandwich.” Dean says.

I groan. I lean to the side and grab the brown bag that contained last night’s dinner. “Gross. It’s from last night, so…eat it if you dare.” I tell Dean.

He smells the bag and makes a disgusting noise. “It’s tuna.” He complains. I hear a ringing sound that comes from inside of the car. A cellphone. I feel something soft land on me and open my eyes.

When I see the greasy paper bag, I recoil, sitting up. “Dean! That’s so gross!” I complain. Dean ignores me and leans into the front seat of the car, going into the glove box to retrieve the ringing phone. When he finds the phone, he gets out of the car, hitting his head on the way out. I chuckle.

“Isn’t that Dad’s phone?” Sam asks Dean. My head perks up at this.

“John’s?” I ask. Dean nods, opening up the old flip-phone.

“Hello?” Dean asks. I get out of the car, knowing this would probably mean business. I take the few minutes Dean is on the phone to stretch my back, I’ve been curled up in the backseat since yesterday morning. “He can’t come to the phone. Can I help you?” Dean asks

I look at Dean, noticing he didn’t mention that John had died. Dean sighs quickly. “Well sorry to be the one to break this to you pal, but John died more than two years ago.” Dean says. Sam and I look at Dean.

“Who is this?” Dean asks after a quick pause. Dean’s face contorts into confusion. “We’ll be right there.” Dean says, hanging up the phone afterwards. He seems angry.

“What’s wrong?” I ask him carefully. I watch as Dean takes a deep breath.

“Dad has another son.” He says.

My heart drops into my stomach. Is how I feel now how they felt finding out about me? I wonder anxiously.

“Dean, look, best I can tell, Adam Milligan is real.” Sam says as we stop at a diner in Windom Minnesota. “Um, born September 29th, 1990, to Kate Milligan. No father listed on the birth certificate. He’s an eagle scout, graduated from high school with honors, and currently goes to the University of Wisconsin- biology major, pre-med.”

I get out of the backseat. “So basically better than your other half-sibling by three miles, an alive mother, and a pending university degree.” I say sarcastically, walking to the trunk near Sam and Dean.

“This isn’t the conversation we’re going to have now. Are you listening Dean?” Sam asks, blowing my comment off.

“This is a trap.” Dean says and closes the trunk, walking to the front of the car. Sam sighs.
