“ROWAN? DEAN? You kids listen to a word I said?” Bobby asks both Dean and I. I sit on the couch staring at the floor whilst Dean stands up, staring out of the window.

“Yeah.” I mumble, though I really didn’t hear him. I hear Dean also mumble something along the lines of what I said. I pay no attention but instead recount the events of the night, when Sam went rogue. When I first met Sam and Dean, they would have taken me to hunt whatever it was Sam has become. But this is Sam, and both Dean and I are at a loss for knowing what to do next.

“I’m not calling him.” Dean says to Bobby, not looking away from the window. I sigh, knowing very well that I won’t call Sam either. I suppose that was the question Bobby had asked us.

“Don’t make me get my gun, boy.” Bobby threatens Dean, though we all know he wouldn’t actually do anything with it. Frustrated, Dean turns around, facing both Bobby and I.

“We are damn near kickoff for armageddon. Don’t you think we’ve got bigger fish at the moment?” Dean asks Bobby rhetorically. I nod, agreeing with Dean.

“This isn’t about Sam. It can’t be. We need to stop Lucifer from rising. We can deal with him later, if there is a later.” I tell Bobby, not removing my eyes from the floor. I notice a small spider and I watch as it runs under the couch. I would have killed it, but I figure we’ll need all the life forms we can get, with the pending apocalypse, that is.

“I know you two are pissed, and I’m not making apologies for what he’s done. But he’s your…” Bobby says. Dean cuts him off.

“Blood? Is that what you were gonna say?” Dean asks. “Bobby, he’s been drinking demon blood, he chose a demon over his blood, and he hit Rowan.” Dean says angrily. I shudder, trying not to remember the moment Sam’s hand made contact with my face.

“I was hurting him. He had a right.” I try to convince Dean, though a part of myself knows that it’s me who I’m really trying to convince.

“I was gonna say he’s your brother…and he’s drowning. I’m not brushing aside the fact that he hit your sister, or anything else he’s done. I’m just saying this isn’t him…not really.” Bobby tells us. I frown, though they probably can’t see it. I still haven’t taken my eyes off of the ground.

“Bobby, I tried- we tried to help him. We did. Look what happened.” Dean says to Bobby. I really wish I could see something else but all I can think of when I think of him is the desperate and angry look on his face when I wouldn’t let him through to Ruby.

“So try again.” Bobby tells us. Dean shakes his head, walking closer to us from his spot near the front window in Bobby’s living room.

“It’s too late.” Dean says.
