HE'S SO DEPRESSED...” I state, standing beside Sam who leans on the door frame of Bobby’s hospital room.

“It’s been like three days now. We got to cheer him up.” Dean says, staring at the man who has been like a father to him.

I frown. “I don’t think he has a reason to cheer up.”

“Not helping.” Dean says. “Maybe I’ll give him a back rub.” He says jokingly.

Sam rolls his eyes. “Dean.”

“Well, what then?” He asks.

“Look…” Sam says, looking from Bobby to Dean. “We might have to wrap our heads around the idea that Bobby might not just bounce back this time.”

“No, that’s insane. He’s like a ninja. An old, grouchy, in-stealthy ninja, but a ninja nonetheless.” I say, only half-jokingly. I look over to Bobby who sits in a wheelchair looking out the window.

“What’s in the envelope?” Sam asks Dean who holds a brown envelope I only now notice.

“Bad news.” I answer, though I only assume.

“Went to radiology.” Dean says. He opens the envelope and pulls out an X-ray. “Got some glamour shots.” He hands the pictures to Sam who holds it up in front of his face. “Let’s just say the doctors are baffled.”

“Wait, why?” I ask, plucking the picture from Sam’s giant hands. My eyes widen when I see dozens of little sigils carved into his rib cage.

“Holy crap.” Sam says, looking at the pictures in my hand.

“Literally.” I respond.

“Yeah, well, Cas carved you one, too.” Dean says. I shudder, thinking about the dozens of angel-tattoos on my ribs. Sam’s cellphone rings and he digs around in his coat pockets to find it. While he does so, I hand Dean back the picture and he tucks it safely away in the envelope.

“Hello?” Sam asks into his phone. “Castiel?”

“Speak of the devil.” Dean says.

“You’re going to regret saying that when it really is the devil.” I say sarcastically. Dean rolls his eyes.

“Uh..St. Martin’s hospital.” Sam says into the phone. “Why? What are you -” Sam furrows his eyebrows and looks at his phone. “Cas?” Upon hearing no answer, he hangs up.

“What happened?” I ask Sam. He looks over to the end of the hall and I follow his eyes. I nod my head when I see Cas walking towards us. “Got it.” I say.

“Cellphone, Cas? Really?” Dean asks him incredulously. “Since when do angels need to reach out and touch someone?”

“You’re hidden from angels now- all angels.” Cas replies. “I won’t be able to simply-”
