I was sitting in a pack meeting.  Not really listening.  If it was important Derek would pull me aside later, and ask for my opinion on it.  If it was extremely important I would probably already know about it.  My being here was more for show than anything else.

At the moment I was just looking out over the crowd with boredom.

Wait a minute..... Someone's missing.

I scanned the crowd again, trying to find that missing person.

Zander, you bastard.  Why can you skip, and we can't?

Isn't he supposed to be at all of these things because he's the peacekeeper, and he's in charge of making sure people are happy?

Yes.

The front door opened, and I could smell his scent drift through the doorway along with two other scents that I would know anywhere at this point.

Zander walked over to Derek, and whispered something in his ear before turning around, and walking out again.

"Meeting dismissed," he said, turning to follow Zander out the door.

A low mumbling went around the room at the sudden end to the meeting, but I'm sure that they could smell the fact that there were humans in the house now so no one really questioned it.

I stood up happily, and walked into the kitchen where I could smell my mate, her friend, Alpha, and Zander.

"What happened to you guys," Alpha asked, looking over my mate and her friend curiously.

Taking in their appearance I could understand his confusion.  Sarah and Abbie were sitting at the kitchen table, water dripping from the skirts they were wearing.  If I was being honest with myself I'd say they looked like cats that just got dumped in a river.  To top everything off, they each had their own bowl of ice cream, eating happily as if they weren't making a puddle everywhere they went.

"I found them walking in the rain on my way to the pack meeting," Zander started to explain as he walked over to steal a bit of Abbie's ice cream.  She happily gave him another spoonful as he continued to explain.  "The sky was dropping buckets and here these two are, shoes in hand, clothes drenched, laughing about something that they refuse to tell me about.  Whenever I pull over and ask if they want a ride they say that the only reason they're getting in the car with me is because they know me and that I have to promise to pick them up some ice cream."

"And I knew that Galán would avenge my death if you did anything," my mate said happily.

"When I ask why they were walking in the rain the only explanation I get is that they wanted ice cream and it didn't start pouring till after they'd started walking," Zander finished, acting as if my mate hadn't said anything.

"Thanks for the ice cream by the way," Abbie says over her spoon, leaning into the arm Zander had wrapped around her.

"Of course they would end up outside the day that it decided to rain," I mumbled under my breath.

"You really should have expected this," my little fairy told me with mock disapproval.

You should have.

"Wait a sec," Alpha broke in, sounding confused.  "You guys walked through the rain, for ice cream?"

"It's only a mile and a half," both girls chimed in at the same time.

"And when did it start raining?"

"A couple minutes after we'd left the house."

"And you still decided to walk?"
