WORDS OF THE LIVING
(LAMPPOST)
The slender stave
Sends waves of orange, fogged light
Giving the street it's sight
Casting its golden orange glow
Deep into the traffic flow
It's sleek, metallic figure
Watches the smaller souls shiverA soul leans
Against the post
The warming beam
Illuminating their tired, thrilling face
As he carried a sodden briefcase
At his side
It's contents classified
The rampant rain
Fell around the road's laneIt's seen it all
Shopping trips, striking ships, games of football
Always the backdrop
Sitting there outside the lonely town's shop
