Blood and Gold

Slumped over each other, do you remember
Will you remember, minutes stacked up next to each other.
Beer cans and ash stains, forcing the rains to stop
Fear the weather, funerals for the songs,
Playing against the backdrop of weed filled lungs.
Faulty words to interrupt the buzzing love,
Between us, in spite of our failing sparks.

Blood and gold, painted the sky that night
Under cover of darkness, the stars align.
Blood and gold, shimmered into view,
Cataclysms new and old, we have nothing left to prove

Shall I call you an old friend ? Two winters we have seen,
Before we meet, first moments on repeat.
Kept safe, away from prying eyes, memory of a month done,
Away from Crying eyes, moments to count one by one.
It wasn't that we weren't around, but back to back in a crowd
Couldn't hear each other, screaming our names out too loud.

Blood and gold, painted the sky that morning
Razor sharp time, slicing away life a day at a time,
Blood and gold, all over the skies for you,
Grace your eye palette, partake in some beauty too,

Blood and gold, colored everything since then,
Your voice, your skin, your touch and your brain.
Blood and gold, if I'd ever see you again,
I would paint you forests of clouds,
Sunrises to sunsets, I'd try to find a way
To make my rebel hands obey,
And paint you a dawn, that will be truly your own.
