Avery tapped his pencil against his desk, listening to his algebra teacher ramble on and on about graphs and equations. He wasn't even listening to half of it.

He did turn and look, along with everyone else as the class door opened. A new kid stepped in, with smooth locks of brown hair. He looked...familiar to Avery, but he couldn't place it.

"Hello, young man." The teacher greeted, "are you my new student?" The kid nodded a bit shyly.

"Uh, y-yeah, I'm Winston Gray. D-Do I just...sit in an open seat?" He asked, unsure. Avery was now going nuts! He knew that he knew this boy, Winston, from somewhere!

"Oh, there's an empty seat next to Avery, the kid with the earbuds on... Mr. Adams, please come talk to me after class." She scolded as Avery removed his earbuds and waved Winston over.

"Hi." He whispered.

"Hey." Avery whispered back. "So...you a senior?" He asked, hoping to start conversation.

"No actually. I'm a junior, I take advanced classes, which I guess is just taking a class that's one year up." He explained.

"Cool, cool..." He replied. They fell silent. "You know, I had a friend named Winston once, about ten years ago. He moved away, though..." Avery remembered sadly. This perked Winston's interest.

"Where did he move to?" He asked.

"Florida, that's what he told me." Winston's eyes lit up.

"It's you...isn't it?" He smiled, "Avery Adams?"

"Winston Gray...son of a bitch, I missed you so fucking much." The two reunited friends pulled each other in for a hug.

"You better not leave again..." Avery whispered teasingly as they pulled away.

"I wouldn't count on it..." Winston whispered back, winking. Avery just snickered and focused on the teacher.
