I was about to speak again when my phone buzzed in my pocket. Quickly, I pulled it out to see a text from an unknown number. Confusion flashed over my face when I opened the text to reveal a video. I hadn't got a clue who the text was from or what the video was and I couldn't help but swallow the lump in my tightened throat.

"What is it?" Mason asked from opposite me, obviously noticing my panic and confusion.

"An unknown number sent me a video," I told him taking a sip of hot chocolate and looking back to my phone.

I pressed play and placed my phone on the table as the video played so everyone could see. At first it was completely silent and the screen was black so I thought maybe it was a mistake. However, after a couple of seconds a deep voice spoke.

"Again," they said. It was clearly a man but the screen was still black so I couldn't see who it was. His voice was deep and sent a shiver down my spine. It wasn't the kind of deep warm voice Zach had that caused my innards to melt and my heart warm. This voice was as cold as the Arctic and froze every bone in my body.

His order was shortly followed my a woman's bloodcurdling scream. The high pitched screech echoed from the phone and my breathing halted. I clasped my hand over my quivering mouth as tears began to form. A knot formed in my stomach as I listened to her cry out in pain.

"What the hell." Caroline furrowed her brows and glared at the phone. Next to her, Jordan was on the verge of tears and I felt Zach tense beside me.

"Again," the frosty voice ordered and a few seconds later, another bone chilling scream followed. My heart raced as we listened to the woman be tortured and I had no clue why it was sent to me.

"Please stop, please," the woman begged and I lost my breath completely as the familiar sound registered in my mind.

My mother.

It was my mothers voice. I would recognise it anywhere. Although it didn't sound normal like it used to, she always sounded happy and upbeat, right now she sounded weak and scared and it sent goosebumps across my skin. My heart split in two as I listened, I couldn't bare hearing her like this, like she was helpless.

The tears began pouring down my face and my heart shattered. I began hyperventilating, desperate to get air in my lungs but it didn't work, nothing worked. My heart was too broken to beat.

"Oh my god," Ryder gasped beside me and then grasped my other hand, Zach still clung to my other as I sobbed. He was the only other person to know my mothers voice and I knew he had also figured it out.

"Again," the voice commanded. They sounded like they were enjoying themselves, like a kid at the fair, demanding to go on another ride.

Another scream rang out, louder than the others. Cries followed, both from her and me. I couldn't take it anymore. The sound of her screaming rang out in my head and I let out sob after sob as I listened.

"Make it stop," I screamed, burying my face in Ryders chest to block the sounds. My whole body shook with every sob that escaped my mouth and my jaw quivered as tears poured over my cheeks.

"Please stop," my mother also begged, her voice shaky.

A glacial, booming laugh that screamed evil and torture came from the phone. "You want it to stop?" The voice asked menacingly.

"Yes, please stop," she whimpered out.

"No, no, no! Make it stop, make it stop!" I screamed pulling my hands away from Ryder and Zach and burying my head in them, tears poured down my face and my whole body felt numb. I was taking about a hundred breaths a second yet I still felt as though I was suffocating.

"Ok." The voice laughed, sending another wave of shivers down my spine.

"No!" My mother screamed and a second later a piercing gun shot rang out. The booming blasted my ears and shattered the broken pieces of my heart. My mind went completely numb and the pain where my heart used to be flowed through every vein and vessel. The video went deathly silent and all that could be heard were my cries.

"No, no, no! Make it stop please, please, please." I begged, her screams echoing in my mind, followed by the gunshot.

"Ella, Ella its ok, its over ok? Its over." I heard Ryders voice amongst the screams and felt two arms wrap around me. I continued to howl and bawl and cry as the screams got louder in my head. "Ella, she is at peace now ok, its over," Ryder continued.

He was right. She wasn't in pain anymore. She was at peace. But all I could hear was her screaming and crying and begging while the man just laughed and tortured her.

I couldn't see straight. Everything was a blur. All I could see was her, her wide smile, her bright blue eyes that were identical to mine. All I could hear was her voice, sweet, melodic and warm. But then comes the bone chilling screams that made my spine tingle and my ears ring. The knot in my stomach tightened and my heart slowed until its almost stopped beating. I gasped for air, rocking backwards and forwards in Ryders arms.

She was dead.

"Ella, shhh, its ok, she is at peace," Ryder whispered through my whimpers and her screams.

"Oh my god Ella, was that..." Jordan cut herself off and I knew she couldn't say it. I couldn't say it. But Zach could.

"Your mom."

"Take me home please," I whimpered after crying in the cafe for what felt like hours.

"Ok," Zach whispered beside me and I was instantly lifted out of my seat. He carried me out of the cafe in his arms while I buried my head in his neck and cried some more.

I squeezed my eyes shut and didn't open them until Zach put me down to unlock my door. The tears were still pouring down my face and my sobs had become quieter but were still going.

"Ella?" My dads concerned voice came from the end of the hallway.

"Dad," I cried and ran to his arms. He was the only one that understood this and the only person I wanted right now.

"Honey, what happened?" He whispered, cradling my head in his arms and stroking my hair while I cried into his chest. I tried to conjure up a sentence but the words didn't come so I just continued to cry, my tears soaking his shirt instantly.

"Someone sent her a video... of your wife," Zach explained quietly.

"Oh Ella." His grip tightened as he kissed my hair and held me. He started to move but I didn't let go of him while he walked. He took us into the office and I heard Zach close the door. "Where's your phone sweetheart?" My dad asked.

"Here." I snivelled, pulling it out of my pocket and passing it to him.

"Alex," I heard Zach behind me. "I don't think you should watch it."
